First post on this board! I had my baby on Monday, and things have been great. He was a BF champion right off the bat. He was born early at 36+6 so he was a little small (5lbs, 13oz). It is the hospital's policy that any baby born before 37 weeks gets a pump in the mother's room to encourage proper supply/stimulation, along with having a stash to supplement feed from. So I did a little pumping while there and with some supplemental feedings, his weight came up, but I still have this leftover supply from the hospital. I am still adding to this supply since I'm having to do minor pumping to relieve the pressure as I got backed up with all the pumping at the hospital. I wasn't planning on starting to build any serious stash until I was closer to going back to work in March. What do I do I so with all this early milk? How long should I hold on to it? I know the storage rules, but most of this has colostrum still and I feel like if it's going to be used, it should be soon? Sorry for such a long post...

You can give colostrum to baby at any time - same storage rules apply. I'd consider using it in 4 ish weeks when you introduce a bottle, if you haven't already started giving one. To relieve engorgement and not be tied to the pump, hand express or pump just until comfort, not more.
If he is gaining okay, and has enough diapers I would put the pump away. Your supply with regulate quickly if you aren't pumping. Hand express for comfort.
Also - anything you freeze now will be able to be used in March!
Supply can be insane the first few weeks. Good thinking to step away from the vicious pump cycle. A nice hot shower -- or bath when you are cleared -- is a great time to just let the water flow and express a little.

I agree with PP who said to save it for when you introduce a bottle. DH got up and did the first morning feed with DD when we introduced the bottle. The extra sleep was glorious!
