Hi. DD is 10 months old. At her 9 month appt, she weighed 17 lb 2 oz (17th%) and was 29in long. We were told she meets criteria for failure to thrive. She hasn't even doubled her birth weight yet. She weighed 9 lb 5 oz at birth and has been EBF since birth. She has fallen from 88th% at 2 mos for weight to 17th% now. She is very happy and healthy. She is very active and always has been. She is developmentally on target if not ahead on some things. She has 6-8 wet diapers/day and usually 0-2 stools/day. She eats mainly table food. The amount varies from day to day. I pump at work and she usually takes 12-14 oz at daycare. She usually nurses anywhere from 6-8/day on days I do not work. Our pedi thinks she will probably catch up when we start transitioning to WCM and did not tell me I had to stop breastfeeding. But he wants her to gain 1 lb in a month and its not going to happen. We are trying to add things like butter and olive oil to her foods and pushing high fat foods like cheese and eggs, but I'm not going to force feed her. I feel that would cause more issues down the road. Really just wondering if anyone else has experienced this in the past and has any insight? I know deep down she is fine but hearing your child is "failing to thrive" really can make you feel like you are not a good mother or not doing the right things for your child. Just looking for some reassurance and ideas on how to help her gain. Thank you!
ETA: She is gaining weight steadily, just not as much as she should be.
