AFs: Anyone fly Southwest prior to having birth certificate?

We are looking to book a flight on Southwest (since we have a credit there). I am hesitant since I have read/heard they are strict about having birth certificate for infants.  We do have our final adoption order and are in the process of applying for birth certificate but likely won't have it before when we are supposed to travel.  

I am contacting customer service about this but just checking if anyone had personal experiences to share. TIA!

I only fly southwest between my home and my parents. I've taken 2-3 flights a year with both girls over the past 7 years and never been asked for s birth certificate ever.

Thank you! Even for when child is sitting on your lap and not ticketed separately?

Never. I would maybe call SW or bring some kind of important paperwork with you but I have never been asked for it ever! I even took my 4 year old niece with me once and she has a different last name and they never said anything

Thanks, contacting them and hoping the final order paperwork will suffice.  On a local board I am on I had a bunch of individuals say they have been asked for birth certificates for their infant- one had to buy a seat since she didn't have it!  Interesting how it differs depending where you are.  Thanks again!!!!

We flew back with both kids as newborns and did not have birth certificates. Both times we had the placement paperwork. Once we flew southwest and once United. They didn't ask for anything either time.

I flew Airtran (now southwest) and they gave me a hard time when DD was 5 mos old. I mean- not really a hard time- but they scolded me for a few minutes at the front desk and let us on the plane.

Southwest is the only airline that has ever asked for a birth certificate. Luckily it was after we had it. When we flew before that we always carried a copy of the placement paperwork. I'd call and see if that is sufficient. Good luck
