We are pretty sure we have narrowed down our boy and girl names. Of course it could always change since it's still early, but I'm pretty excited about them and I think DH is too!
Girl- Elena Irene (mn is both mine and DH's grandma's names) Boy- Bennett Joseph (mn is DH's mn, as well as FIL, BIL, and GIL's fn)
It's so fun to see how different in taste/style everyone's choices are, I think it's great!
Bennett is cute!!!!
I adore the name Bennett too! I like Elena as well. I wish we had names we were set on already!
For STM+, do you consider how sibling names sound together?
Yes. DD is Iris. I don't want any other flower names or anything that would make a theme (I like Hazel but Hazel and Iris is all "eyeballs" to me), anything ending in S, or too anything rhymey (I love Alice but it's a no). Our last name ends like "son" and I don't like boys names that end in n with it, which really limits things.
We are firmly on Team Green. DH and I agree on names for the most part.
Girl: Lena Rae. I'm not totally on board even though I LOVE the name. DS's name starts with an L and I can't decide if I care enough to not use the name
Boys: DH loves Theo Elliot and I'm in love with Rhys Elliot. I can get behind Theo if DH is adamant. I do love that name too.
For STM+, do you consider how sibling names sound together?
To a certain extent. DD has a German first name, and a German last name. Currently, her front runner (for boy or girl, and she doesn't even know we are expecting yet), is Donatello. Its been kind of a joke about how awful it would sound with her name. We want something that is in the higher numbers on the SSA List (her name is in the high 600's), and something that isn't too matchy....but they sound good together.
For STM+, do you consider how sibling names sound together?
I definitely do. But I'm more concerned about two names sounding too matchy then two names that don't sound good together. Like some PPs said having a sibset both with flower names or names that rhymed would be a deal breaker for me. As it stands, Ks name is a character on a TV show Mh and I used to watch that we both really liked. I've already vetoed other girl names from the same show, because not fucking happening.

DD would've been Bennett if she had been a boy, so I obviously love it.
For STM+, do you consider how sibling names sound together?
I definitely will. I don't want them to be too matchy (I have cousins with rhyming names!) but also want them to work together... Like both classic names, as opposed to one trendy and one ethnic, etc.
On that note, would it be weird if the middle names were similar? DS' middle name is James, but I've often thought Jones would be a great middle name for a boy... It's a family name that is no longer being passed down as a surname but I could keep it going with a middle name, if that makes sense. James is also a family name.

I think middle names are kind of a free for all, and I don't think Jones and James are too similar. I jokingly suggested we use DD1s middle name for this baby because we love it so much.

I totally check the SSA for name rank too. I have a weird thing about not wanting a name that is in the first couple hundred.

I don't even think using the same middle name is all that weird. My best friend and all the girls in her family have the same middle name. It's a tradition for them.

+1
I put DD's name into Nymbler to get some inspiration for this kid.
I've got nothing. I'm tapped out on girls names, since we used my favorites for DD1 and DD2 (DD1 was named Virginia after my grandmother, DD2 is Cambria "Cami", and both have the same MN of Skye). I have a few boy ideas: Morgan, Owen, and Blake. But I'm not in love with any of them. I lean toward hippy or old Victorian names for girls, like Raine and Willow and Vera and Violet and Adeline/Adelaide (DD2 was almost a Hazel, but with the rapid rise in that name over the last few years, I'm relieved we went a different route). DH and I are firmly Team Green, and we probably won't get serious about names for another few months. Hopefully we will have more ideas by then.
I actually am in the strange position that my #1 name choice right now is the #1 choice for either a boy or a girl. I think that we are leaning towards Linden. However, it's really early yet and there is totally a chance that this could change.
I have no idea for middle names though. DD's middle name honors my mother and grandmother, so I feel like this kid should have a middle name that honors my DH's family. However, I don't really like any of my DH's female family names and the only male middle name option that I like on his side is Phillip. It is my DH's middle name and his grandfather's name. The problem with that is that it is my step-dad's name (who is basically my dad) too and I worry that DH's family would assume that I was just honoring my family again.

My 2 girls have the same middle name. However my reasoning is a little different since DD1 was stillborn. I was adamant about wanting her sister to have some tangible part of her, and it's really special to me that both girls have that. Hell, if we have another girl, we may use it again. Zero shits given about what anyone else thinks.
DH and I argued about DD's name until she was born. He agreed to the first name I wanted (after my grandmother) but wanted a different spelling because I wouldn't let him use his one grandmother's name for the MN (Gertrude, and no, I am not entertaining it this time either). So we haven't talked about it yet.
But, while we haven't discussed yet, I think about it all the time I like Sara Ann (my other grandmother for first and MIL's name for MN), Caroline or Carolina (DH and I met in NC) with a MN of Jean (my Aunt that passed away), And I kind of like Susanna (smashing together the name my mom goes by and MIL's name). I also would consider Sylvia as a MN (DH's Grabdfather was Silvio) but I haven't figured out what would go with it.
I don't know. I feel like she has to have meaning behind it (more than I like it), but that is so restricting. I will probably start looking at nameberry and going down that rabbit hole.
I wish babies were born with a name tag. Naming my kids is one of my least favorite things to do. Therefore I wont be thinking about this for quite a few more months, because procrastinating about it is how I like to do this.
DD is Jocelyn (Jocie) Aurelia and DS is Liam Donovan.
These girls will be Seraphina (Finn) Rae and Evangeline (Evie) Devona. MNs are family names. I am not a huge fan of boy names on girls, but compromised on letting H call Seraphina Finn because I loved the name so much and boy NN aren't as big of a deal to me.
If they had been boys they would have been Caspian (Cas) George and Remy Vincent.
It makes my day when DS hugs me goodbye for work and then kisses by belly *kiss* "bye Finn" *kiss* "bye Evie". Now he likes to also hug my belly and say "squeezie sisters!!"
ETA: tootsie, I considered the flow a bit, but it wasn't the top priority. H wanted to use Juliet but I didn't want two J names and two non, it felt weird to me.
