Anyone have recommendations for places/sites to get formal maternity dresses? I need one for an upcoming black tie wedding, and I'd love to get something really killer. I have looked a lot online, and I'm having trouble finding things that are formal enough. Tiffany Rose is decent, but they ship from the UK, and there are import taxes, etc. (I'm in the US).
If anyone saw Project Runway All Stars this week, at the end of the episode, a very pregnant Alyssa Milano wore to the runway show this amazing Marchesa dress. I obviously don't want to spend what that would cost, but I'd love to get something u-neek like that. Are there designers/stores that specialize in this?

Rent the Runway also has a "bump friendly" category. I had a formal event a few weeks ago, and found an awesome dress at Cache that worked perfectly that wasn't maternity at all. Don't limit yourself to just looking at maternity dresses.

Thanks--I didn't know about that! But unless I'm doing something wrong, it looks like they don't have any bump friendly dresses right now. I'm looking on my phone, so it's definitely possible I'm doing something wrong.

Def try a tablet or desktop when you can, I don't find their mobile site very useful.

I've ordered a few nice work dresses from Seraphine and I think I've seen formal wear on their site before. They are also in the UK, but my recollection is they only charge around $7.50 for shipping (Fed Ex and it arrives faster than some stuff I order from the US) and I don't recall being charged excessive import taxes. Perhaps they just build it into the cost of their items. I'll warn you they don't sell the cheapest stuff, but everything I've ordered from them has held up well and is very soft and comfortable. I'm still using nursing and maternity wear I ordered from them last time and it looks brand new. Their website indicates returns aren't a hassle, although I've never had to return anything.
I just ordered one from Trendy Tummy. It arrives tomorrow, so once I get it and try it, I'll let you know how it fits/quality.
But they have cute things, from long to short and in between and very reasonably priced. Shipping was fast too, I ordered it Wednesday and it will be here tomorrow.

I bought this dress for a fancy wedding and a work gala off of Luxury Lane. It's a Momo maternity dress. The quality is okay, not terrible but not great. But for $25 and only wearing it twice, I'm happy!
Another vote for asos! they have free shipping and free returns, so a couple months ago when I had a wedding to go to, I ordered a bunch of dresses and returned the ones I didn't like. They have tons of great options for really great prices.
@nevertoomanyshoes Is there much of an option on maternity clothes in Aus. I'm considering buying a few shorts and T-shirts and dresses here to bring back with me. Which is crazy when I look outside to a snowstorm

I like the "Zulily" app because they get a neat collection of maternity stuff that rotates every day or so, but the shipping is like 2-3weeks out. That part sucks.
I haven't checked their selection recently, but Loft has some great dresses and they have a nice maternity selection online. Returns are also pretty easy since you can take them to a brick-and-mortar store instead of paying to ship them back.

I bought a cocktail dress off Ebay when I was pregnant with the monster. We had 5 weddings that summer, and I needed something. I think I paid maybe $50?
It's almost a jersey/stretchy underlay, with a chiffon overlay. It's pretty flattering, but I feel huge in empire waist dresses.. lol. I know I'm not, but they just make me feel that way.
That being said, it'll do the job and it was $129 so not horrible and I think I can definitely sell it on craigslist/facebook after my event.
It is not the quality of a great formal dress, if that makes sense, but it does not look cheap.
