Anyone do this? I have done yoga off and on (though not for quite a long time) and I enjoy it. My OB said not to start any new forms of exercise. Prenatal yoga seems fairly safe as long as the instructor is certified though, right?

I did it with my first and absolutely loved it. I'll do it again once my HG fades away. It's also very low impact and only do what you can. Don't push yourself. But it definitely relieved a lot of pain in my first pregnancy.

I think starting prenatal yoga while pregnant is safe. I think the advice against "new forms of exercise" is mainly for aerobic or major weight-bearing exercise. You're unlikely to do harm with yoga if, as was mentioned, you listen to your body and don't push yourself too hard. But that's pretty much the whole idea of yoga - repetition and gradually increasing what you do without putting a strain on your body. I did yoga many, many years ago and would definitely consider it again, though I haven't yet.
I did it 3-4 times/ week with my first and it was a life saver (physically and mentally). I'd love to do it again this time, but I can't find the time. Try it out and see what you think. I also suggest the post baby yoga. Or baby/me yoga.
I just took my first classes Thursday and Saturday. I liked it and am planning on going back. I agree with frecklesnbrains that it's not really the sort of exercise they mean when talking about not starting new exercise.

I bought an at home dvd with DS and it was awful. Way too much "connect with your baby, feel them inside of you" and it was too boring for my style of exercise. I've always been a sport person so yoga is too slow paced for me and I was really bored. I wish I loved it though because my friends who are all about yoga look amazing!

You have to find the right yoga. I do some at home stuff, and really prefer ashe tanga style. Which is more about the exercise than the spiritual.

sandandsea try a barre class or Pilates class! I do pure barre and I LOVE it!! It's similar to yoga in that you're stretching and toning, but it's much faster paced and challenging than I thought yoga was.

I'm thinking of signing up for a prenatal yoga class that meets Wednesday nights... I thought 16 weeks might be too early but now I might try it out sooner!
