Modified Start a Thread Challenge?

Have you seen on Parenting how they have a start a thread challenge running from 1/11 to 1/31?  I propose that we could do something similar here but perhaps less intense?

Rules:
Participation voluntary
Standard threads that we would have started anyway don't count i.e. Randoms, HDBD, UO, FFFC, etc.

The levels Parenting has are:
Noob 2
Member 3
Reg 4
Bronze Reg 5
(and up from there)

But I was thinking we could just keep it simple and suggest 1 thread per person during the same time period, no formal commitment needed?

The goal would be to create more conversation outside of the usual randoms without clogging up the board too much.

Sounds good to me! Sometimes I think we're all a bit hesitant to be an AW so we put things inside other threads (Randoms/SQ/etc) that might actually be a good conversation on its own!

I like the levels. If you start a boring thread it will just drop to the bottom quickly! But it should be a challenge, right?? Obviously if you DON'T do quite that many, no big deal.

Either of these sound fine to me.  I just don't want it to become too much for people.  I was trying to imagine how I would come up with 5 threads in 20 days (because, bronze reg).

FTR I'm not saying that and those kinds of comments irk me too.  I'm just observing that there isn't much conversation going on outside of random threads and see a potential for more.

Awww I expected you to be on board for this! I'm not sure why it sounds like fun to me. But it's exactly BECAUSE we haven't been slow and boring lately that I think this would be fun. Anyhow, it wouldn't have to be mandatory, obviously, but hopefully it won't annoy those who don't participate!

From my experience with my previous BMB (which just slowed/died out in the past 2-6 months) is that some people prefer more threads and some prefer it condensed. I know it can be hard to read through all of randoms sometimes (because by the time you're caught up the convo has shifted). Basically I'm saying if people want to start a separate thread they can but I find it more difficult to keep up with more threads.

I agree.

I think in the last two weeks, our board is finally picking up and we are developing more of a "relationship". I think we're losing some of the hesitancy we had about posting.  I don't see a problem with the challenge, but the board is only what you make it. If you (general) think we need more threads, start more. If not, don't.

That's sad.  I used to be such a dirty lurker of you guys before the group left TD.

We had a pretty awesome exodus from TD onto a private board and went strong for quite a while. There have been some conflicts the last few months. There's a few left but it's dwindled as more friendship were formed on FB or just outside the board in general.

Eta: I was wondering of a few people on TCF may have been former dirty lurkers of J13(or participated early on)

I think I may just get fired if our board continues to be as fun and awesome as it's been. Can't focus on work and 'probing' at the same time. So, was that word determined to be a real thing?

+1 to not being able to follow the posts on Parenting. Too fast paced for me.

Ok so it seems to be a mixed response. I guess if not enough people want to do it but this thread inspires others to create threads then that is good too.
