GTKY: Did you buy a powerball ticket for this weekend's drawing? Will you get any for Wednesday's drawing?

I'm 99% sure I'm here now at 1DPO. +OPK on Saturday and a rise in temp today makes me pretty confident. We had pretty good timing again this month so we'll see what happens. I actually have an appt with my ob in a little over an hour to discuss my lack of getting pregnant. I have no idea what to expect from the appointment. I don't know if it will be an exam, just talking, if MH should be there (he won't be). I'm a little nervous.
GTKY: No powerball ticket. I have actually never bought a lottery ticket. MH usually buys a ticket if the jackpot gets up super-high but he didn't buy one this time because he forgot. Maybe I will go ahead and buy my first ticket. I have spent plenty of time dreaming about what I would do with all that money!

Buy a ticket, sleepymonkey !! Yes, the chances are almost impossible but it's fun to think about. Can I ask a question about your OB appointment? What do you say when you call to schedule something like that? I want to get something scheduled in case this next cycle doesn't work out (I'm not hopeful if you can't tell). I don't want to spend a cycle or two (or three) waiting like what happened to me in the summer…so I figure it can't hurt to call. I'm just clueless on what to even say to schedule it. Good luck with your appointment today! I hope it's informative.
I'm sitting here at CD 19, 7 DPO. My boobs started hurting Saturday night, but that's normal. Otherwise there's no crazy here yet. I wish I would be more DPO on Wednesday than 9 so I could test early. I have a dentist appointment that night and I usually need to heavily medicate myself to get through it. Going no meds this time (JIC)is going to be rough! I haven't decided if I'm going to test this weekend (12 or 13 DPO) or just wait until next week on AF. We'll see how I feel as the week progresses, I suppose.
ETA: Oops forgot the GTKY! I did buy a Powerball ticket Saturday. I won $4. Woohoo! We hadn't gotten any numbers on our previous attempts, though. We only play when the jackpot gets big. I am in a pool with some moms for Wednesday's drawing. H and I will probably buy a ticket as well.

sleepymonkey, good luck with your appointment today! Hopefully they'll at least do some bloodwork to test your hormone levels and give you a referral to a RE. Please let us know how it goes!
beachdreamer, I know you didn't ask me but I've made these appointments with my OB before. I just told the receptionist that I'd like to set up a time to discuss fertility concerns. I'm sure they'll set it up as a general office visit and take it from there. GL to you and hopefully you won't even need it!

Thanks, summergirl1211! beachdreamer, I just called my ob's office and explained that I'm AMA and have been TFAS for 7 months with no success and was wondering if my ob would see me to discuss what to do. The appointment ended up being not exactly what I was hoping for. My ob is very laid back, which I love about him because I have enough anxiety for 2 people so I needed someone calm and definitely not an alarmist when I was pregnant. But I think maybe someone less laid back would be better when dealing with TTTC. The nurse checked my weight and BP, and then he came in and asked some questions (cycle length, timing, any major medical changes since last pregnancy, etc). He said he doubts it's MFI since nothing has changed with MH. And he doesn't think it's a tube issue since I had a successful pregnancy and don't have pain. He said it's most likely egg quality due to my age and he prescribed 50mg clomid once a day CD5-9 to help with quality. And he wants me to give it 3 months on that. I'm really nervous about unmonitored clomid but he said he has never had a problem with it. Only after 3 months will we look into more testing. I'm not really sure how I feel about the whole thing.

Wow sleepymonkey , I would have been upset too TBH. He didn't check any of your hormone levels at all? I would think that would have been an easy (and logical) place to start. Would you be able to call back and see if he can set up labs for you? I know the standard stuff they checked for me was Estrogen, TSH, FSH and a few others. And I'm sorry, but I had a blocked tube and never experienced pain.
As for the Clomid, does he at least want you coming in for "Clomid checks" to see if there are any cysts forming? Those typically occur on days 2-3 of your cycle and involves just a quick pelvic exam.

Lurking. I agree with this. The blood tests are simple to do - not sure why he wouldn't run them. Also, we got pregnant easily the first time around and nothing has changed since then. But my DH's SA still came back with a potential MFI issue. I'm sorry for your experience!
Is there anyway you could get in with a RE? I just called directly and got an appointment. Even with my craptastic private insurance, the tests were covered.

sleepymonkey - I agree with PPs, I wouldn't take clomid without monitoring. if you have a primary care physician, you can get a referral to an RE done through them instead of your OB. (in fact, my insurance requires that the referral comes from the PCP, not the OB.)

summergirl1211, he does not want any monitoring at all, which I have learned from here is not good. He isn't checking any hormone level yet, which is what surprised me the most. It was basically like, try clomid, see if it helps and if it doesn't, we'll do more testing. I think it has to do with the fact that I haven't been TTC for a year. He won't consider me having fertility issues until it's been a year, even though I'm almost 39. And as for blocked tubes, I had a c-section (which he did) and I have read that scar tissue from that can sometimes cause tube issues. I used to go to an ARNP from a different practice for my annual exams before I had DD. I think I may call that practice and see what they say for a second opinion.

caer, callmeKD, I think I can go to an RE without a referral. We only have one in our area but he seems to be rated highly. I may give him a call. I was really hoping to feel better after today's appointment and I just ended up feeling more confused. My ob is great at providing prenatal care but obviously not great for helping you get there.

(((Hugs))) I'm sorry the appointment didn't help the way you wanted. I've read again and again about people who have had a similar experience with an OB. It's seems they're not always great with fertility issues.
As for the Clomid, from what I understand, there are complications that can arise like cysts, lining issues and the risk of multiples. I would be really nervous to take it unmonitored. Plus I believe you only get to use it so many cycles over your lifetime - 6 cycles maybe? I'd hate to waste those cycles unmonitored and before an actual diagnosis.

I was just going to say to check your insurance. Ours didn't require a referral either but I didn't realize it. I'd definitely give them a call and get set up- there may be a super long wait if you don't have many RE's in your area. I hope you get some answers and some peace. I know you've been anxious for this appointment and you must be really disappointed that you didn't get more answers. Hugs lady.

Wow, I'd be disappointed with that appointment too. I get so frustrated with doctors who want to just "give a pill" instead of actually ruling out underlying causes first. I haven't done any clomid research but I know friends who took it were monitored. I worry about c-section scar tissue causing me problems too. I hope you can get in with an RE to get some tests done first.

I've been trying to call the RE but it just keeps going to leave a vm for the receptionist. I don't really want to leave a message because I can't have my cellphone in my work area so if they called that phone, I couldn't answer. And I definitely don't want them calling my work phone since I work in a sea of cubicles and no conversation is private. I'll keep trying periodically throughout the afternoon but I may have to wait until Friday when I'm off and can leave a message.
ETA: I finally got through and I was able to get an appt for Thursday! There must not be a big demand for REs around here. I think most people do most fertility treatment through their ob/gyn here.

Just came back from my RE appt. Luckily because I am toward the end of this cycle, we can get things rolling pretty quickly. I go for blood work tomorrow, DH is doing his SA Tuesday morning (which is going to be a major logistical headache), and I have a follow-up appt next Friday morning to go over those results and devise an initial plan. Then I get my CD3 blood work the following week and a pelvic ultrasound. I opted to wait for all of those results before deciding whether to do an HSG. The RE told me to stop bbt since I know I'm ovulating and it's not really that helpful in my case. So I may just go to using OPKs and maybe temp just when I get a +OPK until I see a jump just to confirm. All in all, I feel it was a good appointment and I'm glad we can get the ball rolling quickly.

sleepymonkey I'm glad you got in with the RE and feel good about the appointment! Glad you can get the testing done soon, too, so you can have a plan. Having a plan feels good!

Love the update, sleepymonkey….much better than after your OB appointment. Nice that they were able to see you quickly and with the timing, that you can get the ball rolling almost immediately.
