Good morning all. I can't believe I'm here again. I suffered an early pregnancy loss just over 9 weeks ago. DH and I were incredibly lucky to get pregnant immediately with our sweet rainbow. Today, a scan revealed that our little love stopped growing at 7 weeks and no longer has a beating heart. I am opting for a d&c this time.
Here are my questions: what should I expect with the d&c? Specifically, my daughter (14 mo) still nurses 6 ish times a day, so I'm wondering about anesthesia/pain meds and transferring to her.
Do I need to request any further testing since this is now rpl? I've asked for the tissue to be tested.

I'm so sorry for your losses. There is a thread in the stickies of this board called Advice and Experience which lists other experiences with D&Cs.
I do not know about pain meds transferring to your daughter. I'd definitely ask your doctor about that one but I will say that aside from the meds they gave me at the hospital I did not need to take the prescription of pain meds she gave me to take home. There was very little pain for me although every one is different if course. My NMC was much, much more painful than the two D&Cs I've had.
I got further testing after my second loss. My doctor actually suggested it. I would definitely recommend it if your insurance covers it.
First of all, sorry for your loss. I don't have any info about multiple losses and next steps but I can tell you about my D&C experience. I had a D&C in November at 8 weeks. I have an 18 month old and still bf him twice a day (morning and bedtime). Whether you can nurse depends on the type of anesthesia you are given and what time. For me, I basically had twilight anesthesia. I was out, but for a total of only 10 minutes. My procedure was at 2 pm and bedtime is normally 7pm. The anesthesiologist told me that by then, everything should be out of my system and nothing would transfer over to my son. I was taking regular tylenol that day (and the next) for pain management. He also said that shouldn't be an issue. Although I was given the all clear to bf at bedtime, I decided to just give milk for bed that night and then I resumed bf the next day. You will meet with the anesthesiologist just before your procedure so make sure to tell them you are BFing and specifically ask about timing. I would plan on at least a half day of supplementing with pumped milk or WCM. You may need to pump and dump just for comfort.

I spoke with our lc, who is also a l&d nurse, she said my daughter should be okay. My nursling still boobs 5-8 times a day. She won't drink anything from a bottle/cup other than water. Little tyrant.
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I was in a similar situation. I highly recommend the D&C experiences thread. It helped me understand what was going to happen. As far as testing, I had a MMC with D&C and then a chemical. My doctor did not recommend any testing because I haven't yet had 3 losses and also because chemical pregnancies are so common. If I experience another loss that will change things.

This should get you there. I found it really comforting to read everyone else's experiences beforehand. I knew what to expect each step of the way. Hope this helps.
