Since my due date is at the end of the month, I'm naturally one of least far along. I'm hitting 12 weeks tomorrow and I'm finally feeling better but I'm having so much trouble getting back into things. For almost 6 weeks, I haven't cooked much, I haven't worked out, and I've slept 12+ hours a day. I had a rough go of it this pregnancy.
How much you're working out these days and what are you doing? I need the motivation to go back to the gym. I want to be active and strong this pregnancy. Last time I was heavier and out of shape. I've worked so hard to get fit in the past couple years and I've fallen apart since thanksgiving. Any tips, workouts, thoughts are much appreciated. I have an appointment tomorrow and will ask the midwife about this too.

Hi! I think we should team up with another boards health/fitness check in. I started one but there were less and less posters each we and last week only one other person posted so I didn't bother this week.
I don't know, I'm struggling too. I figure if I'm so exhausted that I'm falling asleep by 8pm, then maybe my body doesn't want exercise, it just wants rest. Hopefully I'll have more energy in the next few weeks and I'll get back to walking/jogging. Helpful, I know.
I'm really struggling with this. I figure I'll slowly start walking more once I feel better and once the weather is nicer. I have a friend who ran up until 38 weeks (and I mean ran, competed in half marathons and everything) and I was asking her how she did it. She said I hate to admit it but I just had a really easy pregnancy and you have to listen to your body. So right now I'm listening to my body.

I'm due end of July and struggling with this too. Can't even get up the energy to walk the dog. With my last pregnancy I had to bust my butt to lose 25lbs and really got into Jillian Michaels workouts, so I'm hoping to get back into them to keep up my muscle tone. I need to pick up running again too. My doctor said it's fine to do because I was doing it before I got pregnant. Just need that second tri energy! Where are you???

I am due towards the end of July (I am 12w3d), and I am just now feeling like I am getting a little more energy. I haven't worked out, but I have cleaned my house (like deep cleaned), whereas before, doing one load of laundry would suck the life out of me. With my last pregnancy, I didn't have energy until I hit 20 weeks, so given that I am already starting to feel better at 12 weeks....I consider that a success. I am going to start walking about 30min on the treadmill starting next week (I would try this week, but we have a friend here for a week, staying in the room with the treadmill).

Thanks everyone. I know that part of this is my deep fear that everything in did in the past years is a sham and the "real" me is still the unhealthy woman from before waiting to take over and I need to deal with that on my own. I used to love working out and I was getting into weight lifting. Now my big goal is to make it to zumba tomorrow evening. Where IS that second tri energy for real?

I'm in the same boat. Normally I eat healthy and exercise, but I just CAN'T right now. Hoping that I start feeling better soon. Just wanted to chime in that it's not just you!!

I am in a similar boat. H and I would usually go for a long hike every weekend with DS but now I just cant get up the energy. I was in college the last time I was PG so I was walking all the time to class and basically everywhere and this time I want to make sure I keep up on the exercise as well. Also, pre-PG I used to eat an almost 100% paleo diet but between nausea, food aversions, and MS I have not eaten paleo at all. I would like to get back to eating mostly paleo but with a few carbs thrown in but all of the MS etc is still hanging around.
I figure that for right now I will just listen to my body and try my best to eat healthy and control my portions.

This is me completely. I'm trying to give myself a bit of a break though, as I still am managing to work a pretty stressful job f/t, chase a toddler around, and maintain a household (with lots of help from my amazing DH). Even if I'm not cooking gourmet meals or deep cleaning my house on the regular or working out consistently, I'm still managing to live my life, despite feeling like I have a constant hangover. That counts for something, right?!

This was me with my last pregnancy and so far this pregnancy. I'm lucky in that I have pretty easy pregnancies so I was able to stay very active up until the day I gave birth and hope it will be the same this time around. So definitely listen to your body. But I am still in the 1st tri exhaustion period so I find it helpful to put workouts on my calendar. If something is written down, I'm much less likely to skip it. But be realistic - don't put down something 7 days/week; start off slow. And also, as hard as it is to believe when you're exhausted, exercise will give you more energy and will help you feel better :-) I never regret a workout once it's done. Good luck!

I am 15 weeks and am doing a pregnancy fitness class. It's called Fit4Baby and is part of the Fit4Mom program. I really like that it's other pregnant women and also specifically designed for pregnancy. If they have it in your area it might be worth checking out. Walking when I have energy, too. Usually that means 20 mins at lunch or taking the stairs at work in the morning. I don't push it, but I try to do one small thing each day if nothing else.
It's hard, though. The energy zap is hard to overcome!

I'm team listen to your body.
With my last pregnancy my hips were so bad at 13 weeks that I had to stop all exercise and had to rely on healthy eating and reasonable portions to maintain a healthy weight gain. I beat myself up about it a lot and regret it. I ended up at the same weight as I did with the other two pregnancies, and gained the muscle I lost within a reasonable amount of time. And even if I'd gained more and the muscle was harder to find back, some pregnancies are just tough, doesn't matter how tough the mom is.
So whatever is your reality, go with it. Do your best, but don't worry about the things that just aren't in the cards at the moment. Enjoy your pregnancy for what it is.
As I sit in bed 7:39 my time, ready to go to sleep soon, sore hips and all.
Heck, I'm 13 weeks and have yet to do a single thing exercise-wise. Granted I am giving my body a little bit longer to heal from surgery, but I feel the same way as you in wanting to be somewhat fit throughout pregnancy. I plan on starting walking soon (on the treadmill and outdoors if it's nicer out), and towards the end of the third trimester I'm going to take low-impact swim exercise classes at the local swim center.
I'm not sure if it would help motivate you, but I downloaded an app called "Pregnancy Workouts Free" for Android. It has several workouts for each trimester, and they're all 20 minute workouts. I'm hoping to start trying them out soon!
I'm even further behind. I won't be 12 weeks till Sunday haha. I don't want to cook or clean. I just want to sleep all the time. I have literally made myself run at least once a week. I know it's not a lot, but right now it's better than nothing.
I keep getting told it gets better, oh how I hope it does.
