I logged on because I saw that commercial and just couldn't shake it. At first I thought maybe I was overreacting, and even stopped my husband from posting about it on Facebook. But I'm still just mad, that commercial was unnecessary and I really felt blindsided.
Highly inappropriate, and I feel like I've been punched in the gut. Hard.
Exactly how I felt, like I was punched in the gut. I'm emailing them tomorrow about how much that commercial was inappropriate in poor taste. They may not do anything about it, but maybe it'll make me feel better.

I want to as well. My mom may be leaving as a customer.

I just saw the commercial bc we don't watch t.v. How sad. First, I feel really crummy now that I'm reminded of all the life achievements my kids will never have. Second, how the F does having Nationwide insurance prevent accidents from happening to your kids?! What a bull shit commercial.

Exactly. Their statement that these accidents can be "avoided" is the MOST offensive thing ever. Sure. We all can be safer and aware. But I assure you that every parent who lost their child to an "accident" didn't see it coming. And for parents who haven't lost a child, all they did was invoke fear and paranoia. NOT a productive thing at all.
I was home yesterday watching The Talk and someone on the panel (I forget who) said something to effect of: if it helps families be safer, then isn't that a good thing? And then they moved onto how awful it was that Bobbi Christina Brown was found in the bathtub, unresponsive. And didn't make the link. I yelled at the TV: "Someone make the point! Say it. Say sarcastically 'But if she'd had nationwide insurance, maybe it wouldn't have happened."

Exactly this ^^!! And the fact that no tips for avoiding accidents were given. How the bleep is that helpful? Thanks for freaking me out today Nationwide. Do they really think ppl will buy their insurance based on this?? I certainly hope not.
New slogan & message I took away from the commercial "If you had Nationwide, you wouldn't have died".

Absolutely terrible commercial! Absolutely depressing! DW and I already deal with the loss of our DD, thanks Nationwide for making us paranoid about our son. I feel terrible for everyone who saw this commercial and had to relive some bad memories.
I agree. It was awful to watch and an awful decision for them to make in the first place. It made me sick to my stomach -I can only imagine what it did for you moms who have suffered a loss. I am so sorry that any of you had to endure that.
