You know that saying, if it can go wrong, it will?
-My parents and sister showed up to my house unannounced with their dogs 30 minutes before we were set to leave.
-Even though MIL is in California, she refused to come to the blessing for no reason. DH was pretty hurt.
-One of the guys in the blessing circle was late. We just figured we would go on without him, but he texted me that he was in the parking lot just as the bishop announced that they would do the blessing. I thought said guy would be right in, so I asked DH to ask the bishop to wait just a minute. Commence three highly stressful minutes looking at the door while all the other guys waited around at the front of the chapel and my mom peppering me with completely unhelpful questions (Where is he? Are you sure he's here? Should we go look for him? Isn't this putting a lot of pressure on DH? I think your bishop is getting nervous...why isn't he here yet?), which lead to me hissing "I don't know where he is, okay?!" at probably higher volume than I meant.
-DS kept throwing himself on BIL's new girlfriend throughout the service, and she was not amused. She also had no idea what was going on, as BIL didn't explain a thing to her about a Mormon service until afterwards, and today was the day that anyone can get up and say whatever they want (children included).
-My grandparents talking at full volume and laughing loudly at DS during the passing of the bread and water.
-My mom has a "highly contagious" cold but decided she was fine because she's been on antibiotics for two days (she doesn't believe antibiotics don't work on viruses). She went from "I don't have to come if you don't want me to" yesterday to holding DD for an hour and a half today (I gave DD to my dad and dad gave her to mom when I was distracted). I was so pissed.
-My grandma was also sick, but finangled her way into sitting next to DD at church until I moved her between me and DH (instead of between my dad and grandma). Didn't stop Grandma from being all up in DD's face at every opportunity.
-I took DD out into the foyer near the end of the service because she was getting hungry. My grandma followed me with DS (I don't know why) and then promptly lost him because she was giving all of her attention to DD.
-My grandparents got in a fight after the service and then didn't come to our house for cake (they went to visit friends or something).
-I panicked because 10 people told us they were coming last minute so I went out and bought another cake to make sure we were covered. Now we have a whole extra cake in our fridge. Gah.
-Neighbor had a panic attack from all of the people in our house.
-Everyone left before we could do pictures.
*Sigh*
Good things - DH did a great job with the blessing, DD looked adorable in my blessing dress, and the cake was crazy delicious. Also got to catch up with some friends we don't see often. So...not a total loss.
(anyone know how to make pics smaller?)
