Guise.  I just did this and I'm amazed at how good it looks and how well it's holding.  I feel like a sorcerer.  How have I had long hair for so long and not known this was a thing?!  Are there other "hacks" I don't know about?!

Well that's cool. I wonder if my hair is long enough to do this with. Sometimes if I am desperate I will use a pencil. I am good at losing hair ties.

My hair isn't that long but like nuggetrn I've learned to twist it up with a pencil. It took a lot of trial and error but now I can get it pretty tight. And it looks kind of cute too.

I've watched a million hair tutorials and they all look so fun until I do them. I'm going to explain this poorly - bear with me. It seems like the girls' hair already has some product in it? To help it hold? It always looks slightly "straw-like."

My hair is straight and slippery. Shampoo, conditioner and nothing else. It slides out of bobby pins and fun turns while theirs just stays.

What magical potion must I put in my hair?

This. I have very fine hair. So fine I can't even use regular hair ties when I have long hair. This would not work for me at all, but it's really fun to see!

I usually just use dry shampoo to give my hair some extra texture and grip

I know what you mean joy. My hair would be like yours except I bleached parts a while back and those parts are more...textured? Not necessarily in a good way because it tangles and knots badly but it does help with styles like this. I second the use of dry shampoo - it helps add some texture/grip to your hair without being gross.

I had dreadlocks for 3.5 years and would use two to tie my hair up into a pony tail. I miss my low maintenance dreads. Hair is so much work sometimes.

It's taken me a long time to girl.  My Mom kept my hair short my entire childhood and it's taken years of playing around with it to figure out how to do some things.

An acquaintance swears by bed head sugar dust for this, and it worked in my hair, however I prefer ordinary dry shampoo also - I have very very fine pin straight hair...

Yeah, my hair is bra strap length and this did not work, even just using 1 finger
