peachey That photo is GORGEOUS with the snow and the mountains. I am so happy not to live in a place that cold but man, a view like that would tempt me.
kames12 Happy birthday! I am so glad that your DH stepped up and apologized.
limabeanmom CONGRATS on six weeks of breastfeeding! That is a tremendous accomplishment. Enjoy your beautifying!
Speaking of strollers anyone know if the Maclaren Globetrotter is worth the cost?
As a brand their quality is pretty awesome. We have an older Quest, and El is the third child to go through it, but besides a little wear on the handle grips it is in amazing shape.
DH will freak if figures out how much it is but I think I am going to splurge on it. We have a very cheap stroller and it doesn't work well at all. We are planning a trip that a stroller will be key for.
I figure the resale value will be high too. And the globetrotter goes up to 55 pounds. I wish I could test it out before purchasing but no baby stores near by.
So...DH just went up to check on E because she wasn't settling down for nap (and she'd thrown her water cup out of her crib). He lifted her up to do a sniff check and see if she was poopy...right under the ceiling fan in her room. Face palm. Apparently she got a bit of a dent in the back of her head where the fan blade hit her. Is this something I should be calling the on call nurse about? She calmed down after a few minutes and is back in her crib talking to herself. (And yes, she was poopy.) DH thinks it's fine, that kids fall and hit their heads all the time, and we should just monitor her. But how do you monitor for a concussion when it's nap time!?

moosemug I myself would just monitor. Jameson fell off the bed in a hotel and hit his head right before nap time. I monitored and kept him awake for 30 mins. He acted fine so I didn't make any calls or take him in anywhere. I'm not a natural worrisome person though.

Ouch! How high did he lift her? I'm trying to imagine how this happened...but I hope she's okay!

heelibrarian, our ceilings aren't that high and the fan hangs down at least a foot so he probably only lifted her about a foot above his head (whatever height you have to get to to get her bum at nose level?). Yeah...I did a lot of tongue biting when he came down and confessed what happened.

So I asked SXH what his plan was if his GF goes into labor or is in the middle of having a baby on a day he's supposed to be watching M. His response? "I haven't really figured it out but I can make it work."
Oh really? So when she's 10cm dilated, 100% effaced, and is pushing and its 8:30 and you're supposed to be picking M up from my dad, what's going to happen? Either you look like a douche for not planning something for your other daughter or you're a huge douche for leaving your gf! What an idiot.

moosemug what I read was that if they aren't acting like themselves and/ or vomit twice post incident it is time to take them in... E fell down the stairs at Thanksgiving and I freaked out and read a bunch of stuff.

Thanks, peachey! Sorry E fell down the stairs, but I'm thankful you did all that reading so I um...can be a slacker mom and not read up on it... :/ And so you can calm my concerns.

As far as comparables I would say you are probably looking at things like the Uppababy G-Luxe which aren't so friendly on the wallet either. Frequent complaints I've heard are things like lack of padding, lack of height adjustability, hard to get into the basket area and pretty much any other complaint you'll hear with any other umbrella stroller.
The netted basket area can be a pain in the ass but my spouse is 6' 3" and I'm 5' 6" and we are both fine with it height wise. Plus El actually prefers it to her more expensive, cushier, full featured stroller if she gets the choice.
And you are totally right about resale, McLarens here usually go for 75% - 80% of their original price if they are in good condition.
Sucks that you can't test it but I hope that's a little more informative.

Those kinds of people drive me nuts when I don't have any reason to hate them! Ug.
