This is semi-breastfeeding related. Does anyone have a nursing tank or top that they love? I have a couple of motherhood and maternity tanks from DD1 that I don't love.

Following. And sleep bras- I want something a little looser than my normal nursing bras but something to keep them from thinking they run the world.

I don't have terribly huge boobs but I like my Veami sleep bras. Got them on Amazon.

I, too, am on a quest to find the perfect nursing tank. This is the one I like best so far, because it's slim fitting enough that I can wear it under regular clothes and more supportive than any of the other ones I've tried. I just wish it came in more colors.
I am debating giving up getting DS to latch and just EPing now that I'm actually building supply and responding to the pump. It's still kinda painful when he latches and he is only transferring 40-50 ml. While this is a huge improvement from where we were just 2 weeks ago, l still have to pump after he eats and then feed him again. Plus I go back to work in 4 weeks and he will be mostly bottle fed then so it might make sense to switch now and get the hang of EP.
Anyone here Pump full time that has anything to share? I'm not seeing any negatives to this since I'm already pumping 8 times a day.
I EP! Did it with my first two as well for a year! Your pump kinda just becomes part of life.

That's dedication! My goal is to make it 6 months of some form of breastfeeding. Any advice if I decide to EP? I already have 3 sets of pump part, use the fridge trick so I'm not washing parts all day long, and have a hands free pumping bra.

Do you have the Pumpin' Pals flanges? They are/were far more comfortable for me than the ones that came with my pump.
I have been trying to get DD2 to sleep for over 2 hours. I feel like all she wants to do nurse, which hurts my nipples. I am very tempted to give her some formula. I'm exhausted and just want to sleep

In the first week to week and a half, I gave my LOs an ounce of formula a couple times when I was in this exact situation. My nip hurt. Babbles wanted to to eat. I was exhausted. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Now, they have become better nursers and my nips have healed- I don't think I've given any formula in a week.
My thought is do what you have to do to be happy. It won't ruin your BF relationship. (Also, I'm not sure if you plan to use one or not- but when my nips were really sore, the paci helped save them). Good luck! You are doing great.
When should I be switching breasts during a feeding? I was switching after 10-15 minutes because I couldn't stand the pain but it has gotten better now.

1) sleepy baby advice? He'll fuss and show he is hungry, then passes out after just a few minutes. I don't mind him hanging out during the day but it's frustrating at 3am BC I know it means he'll be up hungry again
2) what do you do with handsy babies? When he's upset (esp if I make him relatch due to a poor latch) he'll flail his hands around or put them in front of his mouth, which makes it even harder. I've tried swaddles, but that usually ends me back up with question 1.
Breastfeeding is physically and mentally difficult.

The advice I got was to switch only when the first one runs out of milk. I have never run out of milk, so I just alternate breasts at each feeding.

Thanks! She pulls away and goes to sleep. Does that most likely mean she's done?

I'm in the same boat. She falls asleep while eating every single time. We've even used a cold wash cloth to try to wake her up and it doesn't help.

Something must have finally clicked for DS because today he has breastfed 3 times successfully latched with no pain to me he still isn't transferring milk well since I can still pump 1.5 ounces after, but at least it doesn't hurt

I just keep moving her hands because she does that too.
Mallory is a snacker at night-although she still goes a semi decent stretch in between. Ive tried undressing her but when she's out she's out. It's annoying when your sleep deprived but as long he's having enough wet and dirty diapers I wouldn't worry about it and just deal with it.
mrsred09, I gave up on trying breastfeeding too. I wanted to try once daily but she would just get too frustrated or we would have to bottle after because she was still hungry.... After draining my boobs and taking 45 minutes to an hour and 20 to do so.
mrssmith613, a year?! That's crazy! I'm also shooting for 6 months but I'm in such a rhythm now I light make it all the way to a year. Fingers crossed! You just gave me hope!
RE: pumping pals, how does it work? Does it fit in your other flanges or just into the other valves? My back is killing me and all of the repeat poor posture during the day makes sleeping and laying in bed more uncomfortable.

Rivers and SubtleGrandeur , my first was an uber sleepy nurser. The pedi told us to keep her undressed except for a diaper and just keep her wrapped in a blanket until it was time to nurse. Then we'd take the blanket away and play with her feet, her head, blown on her head/forehead, basically everything to get her to stay awake. Also I would burp her then change her diaper before switching sides (even at night) to makensure she was awake. Last, really listen/watch for the active/awake nursing (listen for the gulp and breathe sounds and watch the throat for swallowing). If baby is just sleepy comfort sucking but hasn't filled their belly, they'll (1) wake up as soon as you pop them off the breast and lay them down and (2) destroy your nips. If you have a baby who likes to sleep and suck, then for the love of all things holy get a paci.
Re: hands baby, my first wanted her fist in her mouth from day 1. I had to physically hold her arms back with a rolled up blanket to get her to latch in the hospital when DH was in the shower and couldn't hold her hands down for me. It was a steep learning curve for sure. Football hold might be easiest to keep hands and arms out of the way. You could try swaddling with a velcro blanket, but then you have to worry about the sleepy nurser issue. I got good at pinning one arm under her body and the other down with my forearm while that hand held her head for latching. I don't know. It definitely takes practice.
BFing is really, really hard for a lot of mamas. It DOES get easier and it's really a wonderful exlerience. But all the granola people make it sound a lot more painles and instinctual than it really is, especially in the beginning. It really helps to have other mamas around to ask for help (here for sure, but also in person! I swear I asked every woman I saw the first month if she would check my latch.

H&M has a 2 pack of nursing tanks for 29.99. They are a regular camisole only with the clip down front. I never found a nursing tank I liked with DS, they either were huge in the belly or super tight like shape wear. I just wanted a regular fitted cami that I would wear on a daily basis under my shirts.
The H&M pack I got is a microfiber and I just tried mine out the other day and really liked them. The only downside is the pack is a black and nude tank. I'd really love white. Looks like they have some cotton 2 packs as well. I'll have to order one of those and see if I like the cotton just as well.

Thanks! I didn't even know H&M had maternity/nursing stuff!!

They do! I didn't realize until recently, so I never did try any of the maternity clothes. The tanks are my first purchase. There's a nursing sweater on their website I'm thinking about ordering. Looks like it has slits on the sides and is supposed to unbutton somewhere in there.
I can't wear a normal nursing tank without wearing a bra because of my gigantic boobs. It's a giant pain in the ass to have to unhook 2 clips. My favorite nursing tanks are the undercover mama tanks. You can wear a nursing bra and then there are loops that hook on to the straps of the bra.

Yeah I have to wear a bra as well. With DS and even now I'm mainly wearing a nursing bra and my normal camis and then I just yank the cami down on top rather than pulling the shirt part all the way up.

Good luck to you! I was actually sad each time the year came up and I was quitting. As hard as that may be to believe!
