Oh my word! I went to my check-up this morning and as soon as I signed in at the window, my nose started gushing. It was awful! The receptionist got a nurse and the nurse came right away and took me into a room to stop the bleeding. I have never had a nosebleed before, so it was really scary! I know it's normal during pregnancy, so that kept me calm. Anyone experiencing nosebleeds? How often? Anything you've done to prevent them or make them not as bad? The doctor recommended saline. I already sleep with a humidifier. I guess I'll be increasing my water intake and buying some saline.
I've had them pretty much daily this entire pregnancy. In fact, I'm having one right now. My doctor isn't concerned since all my bloodwork has been fine.
Oh no! Glad they were able to help you quickly. I had them a lot when I was pregnant with DD1, though I think they were in 3rd tri. I remember my dr saying that it had a lot to do with increased blood volume.
I had one during my last pregnancy that was so scary because it just wouldn't stop. After more than half an hour I called my doctor and they said to wait another 30 minutes before going to urgent care. Thankfully it stopped! I have low platelets during pregnancy, so that probably is unusual.
If your nose is really dry, do you have a humidifier? That might help.
My nose bleeds a lot, but definitely not the gushing you described. That would be terrifying and embarrassing! I carry tissues with me everywhere I go because I'm afraid I'll start bleeding.
I've been drinking a lot of water lately and they seem to have subsided for the most part. Other than that, I just endure them. Make sure you tip your head down if it starts bleeding
I'm going to put a small towel in my purse in case it happens when I'm out again. Glad the water has helped for you! I really need to try harder to drink more..it's hard because I hate that sloshy feeling!

Wow, you get them daily? Ugh, I hate that for you!
Mine hasn't been gushing, but I've had a few minor ones here and there. I used to get huge, gushing nosebleeds frequently as a kid, so it hasn't seemed alarming. I figured it's just a combo of winter dryness + increased blood volume from pregnancy. Plus... Picking my nose sometimes (in private!) because pregnancy has given me lots of extra boogers. >.<
If you get a bad one, just pinch your nose (makes it easier for scab to form), and tilt your head forward NOT backwards.

Sorry it was so scary! I actually have gotten fewer nosebleeds since pregnancy. Normally I have a few a week this time of year. Humidifiers and saline gel (in the nose) are your friends. I hope that you are all done now, though!

That sounds scary! I didn't think mine was going to stop, but it did after 10-15 minutes. My nose has been dry since December, so I've been sleeping with a humidifier since. Maybe it's not working like it should.

The nurse told me to tilt my head back. Hmmm.. Does holding it forward help stop the bleeding faster?

Thank you! I hope I'm done now too! I will get some saline when I go to the store later. I wonder why yours are fewer with pregnancy? That's good you dong have to deal with them though!

I don't know if it stops bleeding faster. I've been told to lean forward too, to avoid swallowing or inhaling blood if you lean backwards.

Thanks! Pain in the ass but luckily they're mostly small.

Nooooo the leaning backwards advice is like minimum 3 decades outdated. Leaning forwards doesn't make it stop, but it keeps you from ingesting all the blood.

Oh nosebleeds! I get them a lot, I've had many bad gushing ones that go on for like 15-20min. I use saline spray now which I think helps a lot with them. If you've never had them they can be scary but I would always get one bad nose bleed couple days leading up to my period. It's actually a real thing, very rare so I can't remember what it's called. Anyways I'm bad, I always tilt back which means I end up swallowing a lot of blood.

As long as I keep the humidifier going at night, I'm pretty good. I got a nose bleed every time I cried during my first pregnancy. It was very odd and annoying.
I've only had 1 gusher this pregnancy, but alot of little bleeding. I use saline spray every morning and night to try to help with the ridiculous dryness. Hopefully it won't become a common occurrence for you!
I get them pretty much daily unless I use a saline spray during the day and a light coating of Vaseline inside my nose at night. I never had a nosebleed before I got pregnant, so the first time it happened I freaked out.
This is my first winter since high school that I have made it so long without a nosebleed. I usually get them at least once a week. Really hoping I didn't just jinx myself. I have had my fill of waking up with hair caked with nose blood
