1. We've hit V-Day!! 24w1d today with two little dudes.
2. Had an OB appt with sonogram on Thursday, and everything looked great! The boys are large. At 23w4d, they were measuirng 24w1d and 25w respectively. The littlest big baby weighed 1.4lbs, and the bigest big baby weighed a whopping 1.62 lbs.
As for me, I'm measuring at 31 weeks by singleton standards. The doc asked if I had any questions or concerns, and I mentioned the continuing sciatic and back pain. He recommended more Tylenol, and a heating pad as needed. I asked whether Vicodin and red wine was an option anywhere on the spectrum. He indicated that it would be considered a very 'European' treatment, but was frowned upon here in the conservative United States. Dang it. I tried.
Next OB appt in a week and a half, and we'll do the 1 hour glucose then.
3. We managed to get one of our two cribs assembled this past week. That took a bit of doing, but it's done. Now we just need to find time to get the second one together! I also cut back on hours at job #2 starting this week. I was working 6 days a week (waitressing) but I'm down to a much more manageable 5 days. That will keep me under 70 hours a week between both jobs. I'm still trying to maintain that until the end of March, but we'll have to see how that shakes out.
I'm battling a bit of exhaustion today. Try as I might, I couldn't get back to sleep after waking at 2am, so I've been up since then. Hoping the day passes quickly so I can try again tonight!
QOTW: We have a nursery right across the hall from our bedroom. It's massive (12 x 24' with walk in closet) which is helpful considering all the stuff we have to pack into it. As of right now, it houses two cribs (one assembled), a changing table, a dresser, our LazyBoy recliner, a couch (for whichever one of us is on baby duty to doze on if the babes are fussy) and some additional miscellaneous baby gear which will eventually go elsewhere (stroller, pack n' play, etc). The plan is to put the babies in Rock n' Play sleepers to start. I'm doubtful we'll keep them in the bedroom so that at least one of us can sleep at a time, but that could definitely change once they get here and we figure out how to do this parenting thing.
20 weeks We have our anatomy scan Wednesday. L is going to come with me and her parents are going to watch C so that's good. We have OB appt after so she will get to meet OB. She's been trying to not take too many days off before the baby comes so she can have 3 weeks off once the baby arrives. We do know sex based on embryo testing-- it's a girl! But I want to wait officially to announce until after the anatomy scan confirms.
I am anxious to talk about GD with my provider this appt too. I was diagnosed first pregnancy I think around 28 weeks and it was diet controlled. I imagine I will have it again. I think she may test earlier too which is fine by me but I forgot to ask about it last appt since she had to cut out early to deliver a baby.
We are looking for houses currently. We want to move by early to mid April so we have time to settle in and get C adjusted before baby comes. Also want some extra time In case the baby comes early. It's hard because a lot of houses here don't come on the market until mid spring.
It's been interesting looking at houses with parenting and baby stuff on the mind. For example, there is one house that doesn't have carpet on stairs. We feel we would want to fix that in case C takes a tumble. Also, one has an open window in wall in dining room, to see to living room, which would be great except it opens to stairs so if a little one figured out how to climb the wall to the opening they could tumble on to stairs going down to basement. Open floor plans really appeal to me too so I can keep an eye on the kids while I cook etc and don't feel like I have to run around just to keep an eye on them. Having bedrooms together as opposed to master on one side and other bedrooms on other side also appeals to me because I could hear them from the master bedroom if they cry etc and not rely on a monitor. But then in 5 to 10 years it will probably be nice to not hear them all the time and them not to hear us, so maybe it could be a plus. Anyway I digress.
QOTW- we will have the baby sleep with us either in a rock in play or bassinet by the bed until they are probably 5-6 months. This worked well for us last time. Eventually though I slept better with baby in other room but I exclusively breastfeed last time so having them close is key. L and I will probably take turns with one of us sleeping in next door room too, at least half the night so one of us gets some sleep. This helped a lot the first couple weeks. Even though I was exclusively breastfeeding, having L do the diaper changes and other stuff and handing her over to me only to feed her helped me get back to sleep easier.
I say all this though and know that things may be different this time, so we may do things differently.
We just got back from our first midwife visit. I thought it went really well. I got most of what I was hoping for out of the visit. I think M did too. They changed our due date (again). It's now 8/12/16. I know it doesn't really matter but people ask these things.
I think we are planning on the first tri screen next week and then we will likely tell our families.
This visit made it more concrete for me, that we are having another kiddo. I can start to envision our life with 2 and we are making practical plans. I think M is still having a tough time because she feels like O will be neglected somehow. I think as time goes on it will all work itself out.
QOTW: Our current guest room will be the nursery. It's going to take a lot of rearranging since that room is mostly my closet. (the master closet is tiny). I'm a little stressed about it but baby will sleep in our room for awhile anyway. I'm the type that needs everything set up well in advance though so the room will be a nursery well before he/she arrives.

1. 31 weeks today with my second little one. It's a girl!
2. I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow, I'm a little nervous about it because she will be reviewing my blood sugar logs and I'm a little bit worried because some of them have been a little higher than they like to see them.
3. This little lady has definitely moved down and I'm really starting to feel a lot of pressure and I back to having to pee nonstop.
We had our baby shower this weekend it was amazing, we are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family and so many people to celebrate this little lady with. Between that and some of the items that have been handed down to us we have an abundance of clothing and I feel like we'll need to do an inventory before I dare even consider purchasing a thing.
QOTW: DS has moved into our former office/spare bedroom/random storage (nightmare to clear) and the baby will have his old room although she will sleep in our room in a bassinet for the first 6 months or so. We've done lots of renovating and moving to reorganize our house but we are on the final stretch. Yay! ~*~*~*~*~
crazyaunt84 congratulations on V day! Sorry about the red wine; I miss red wine too. Good luck with your glucose test!
mahler5 FX crossed that you don't have to join me on Team GD.
kona happy to hear that your first MW appt went well.
@suesposa I feel like 12 weeks is a milestone so hooray!
1. General overview (examples--answer what you like: How many weeks? First baby/, second, etc.? Do you know the sex of the baby? 11 weeks, first pregnancy/first baby. Just found out that it's a boy! But shhh. The real world doesn't know we know.
2. Appointment Updates (recent appts? ones coming up?) Just got the results of the genetic screening (SO COOL) and everything is okay in there! And it's a boy!
3. General symptoms/rants/concerns/exciting things? Still some queasiness, but I feel much better overall. Now we are just getting used to the idea of having a little boy in the house. Honestly, we were both kinda hoping for a girl, because we know about being girls, you know? And we've always been an all-female house. Tell me, other folks with two female-types, that it's awesome and that little boys are adorable and I'll be convinced. :-) But he's ours and we love him already.
QOTW: The nugget will sleep in our room for a while (current plan, but we know everything is a draft). I really want a sidecar-type arrangement for the first while. We have a second bedroom, but it is currently a guest room and needs a lot of work to have a baby in it. It is also Millie-cat's safe-room, where she hides from Sissy-cat, who chases her and scares her. Millie lives in the guest room anytime we can't supervise the two of them together... So a baby might make all that a little weird. We are looking into moving so that everybody gets their own room. That's not silly, is it? :-P
