I breastfed my daughter until the week before her third birthday and I fucking loved it.
Is it just the bonding time together? How/why did she eventually wean?
Maybe it makes me uncomfortable because although we often see women breastfeeding babies in public, we don't often (or at least I have never) seen a toddler breastfed. Maybe it's just a lack of exposure kind of thing? I honestly don't know. Trying to figure my brain out.
I don't think seeing it more would change your feelings. I think it's something you can't really understand until it's your own child and your own experience. It becomes a really natural and routine part of mothering.
You don't see many toddlers bf'ing because most bf 1 - 3 times a day on a very predictable schedule. I can't think of a time where nursing in public would have been necessary like it can be with a newborn who feeds on demand. Not that I ever nursed in public if I could avoid it...
There are benefits to both mom and baby for bf'ing beyond a year. Namely, boosted immunity because kiddo is still receiving your antibodies. Also the composition of breast milk changes as the child grows so as long as you're still bf'ing your child's nutritional needs are being supplemented and there's less worry when they don't eat well. The WHO recommends bf'ing until at least 2.
I never breastfed and don't plan on it but I just think the bolded is so cool. It fascinates me that breast milk changes to match the needs of the child.
In regards to what I pack in my kid's lunch, it's usually PB&J or a lunchable. But 90% of the time I make her buy lunch at school because #lazy. I can barely remember to pack my own lunch.
I was such a punk as a kid, I absolutely refused to buy lunch because I was super picky. Now that I'm a mom even of just an 8 month old I can totally see what an annoying child I was.
I BF'd DS for 4-5 months last time. A couple of factors (most of which are purely selfish) but I was super paranoid if I drank and how much went into my breastmilk. This only happened 1-2 times in that period but enough to give me anxiety. DS also started to smile when he would see my boob - given I smile when I see food too - but it kinda creeped me out. My career involves a LOT of meetings - Pumping while on conference calls. Those pumps are not quiet.....

I've caused damage to vehicles that parked like assholes. To elaborate: if I park between 2 lines, which I've had a lot of practice at, and you park over the line the safety of your vehicle is forfeit. I will not put my groceries in the trunk, sorry but those bags may scrape your paint job. I'm not going to climb over my passenger seat to get into my car. I'll stop my door from hitting yours because that's my door, but if my keys are in my back pocket and I have to squeeze to get by, that sounds like a you issue.
Basically, I'm a giant dick. People should stop parking like they've never driven a motor vehicle.
Ok, I grew up a pretty priviledged child and ate plenty of pb&j sandwiches. And I would have chewed off my own arm before eating an eggplant sandwich. Still would, in fact.

Ray, Are you concerned because you ate it with a spoon, or because of the listeria thing?
tootsie, MHs grandfather once threw a metal garbage can through a parked car's window because the kid who owned the car kept speeding down the street, and there were a lot of little kids on that street. At least 10 people saw it happen, no one reported it. Social justice FTW.

DS doesn't eat PB&J and has never tried it. He will eat a plain PB sandwich but not with jelly. I grew up very low income and I don't think we ever really ate PB&J. My mom always made us eat the school food.
I hate PB&J but I will eat a plain PB sandwich so I get DS's not liking them.
I nursed and pumped (working mom) for 12 months and while I loved it to an extent, when I quit it was glorious. DD reverse cycled, so I was up a lot at night breastfeeding and pumping during the day. When I weaned her, she started sleeping through the night. If I had known that sooner, I would weaned her earlier in life. It helped manage my weight post-pregnancy, and it helped with the bond. However, I never felt like I produced enough and I would pump at work until I'd BLEED and then still only bring home about 4 oz. It was heartbreaking. I don't think I'm going to be so hard on myself this time around. I will breastfeed and pump, but not push myself to bleeding this time around. I also produce that weird breastmilk that has that extra enzyme in it that makes it smell like soap, so I threw out a lot of breastmilk, thinking it was bad, until I figured that out. TEARS.

tootsie, H has some road rage issues and has thrown loose cheerios at a car because they were being an idiot on the road. We also know someone who has thrown 2 double cheeseburgers at someone who pissed them off on the road.
I do not endorse this behavior at all but H is pretty proud of it for some reason.

Well that's a waste of perfectly good food.....
Other than frequently yelling "Pick a lane!" Or "nice blinker!" I'm not a participant/fan of actual while driving road rage. Because I think it's dangerous. That's not to say that if someone tailgates me on a single lane road when I'm already speeding that we won't be going 1mph under the speed limit the rest of the way to our destination.
I was wondering this as well, because I thought "is she trying to tell us that she ate the whole cantaloupe? Like in one sitting?" but then I remembered that my doctor told me to be careful with cantaloupe because of the listeria that can be on the outside, which can be spread to the inside of the melon, while you are cutting it.

I prefer to bottle up my road rage on the off chance that the person I'd like to give the finger to is a maniac who will run me off the road or shoot me.

I mean, I've eaten spinach and ice cream in the past 2 days, both of which have been recent sources of listeria. I'd need a feeding tube my entire pregnancy in order to avoid any and all foods that could potentially be contaminated.

For real........me too. I was glad that my doctor brought it up, so I would at least know, but it seems like anything that you eat that is healthy, can give you listeria. Unless you are planning on living off of boxed pasta and microwaveable meals, you are pretty much taking a chance. My taste buds will take that chance!

I hate cantaloupe. It is one of the very very few fruits that I will not eat.
FFFC: I ate ice cream for breakfast. It settles my stomach in the morning.
I've had pie and cake for bkfast before!
Pie is a totally acceptable breakfast food in my house and it was when I was growing up too. I have on occasion let DS have a brownie or something for breakfast. I do draw the line at straight candy for breakfast though.
Cold pizza is also acceptable breakfast food at our house.
