Can anyone help me out with understanding my blood results regarding my thyroid?
My TSH level is 3.5 miu/L. My peroxidaise ab is 36 and thyroglobulin is 5.
I don't know what any of this really means. Are these levels worrying? What are the risks? My dr has suggested I should take 50mg levothyroxine per day (and I intend on following her advice) but does this sound like the appropriate treatment to those in the know? Feeling a bit lost about it all!
Have you had higher thyroid levels before or been diagnosed with anything?
3.5 TSH is still within the normal levels of TSH however the peroxidase shows that you have antibodies that are probably fighting your thyroid so your doctor is trying to be proactive and trying to get your thyroid levels to the ideal level for a pregnant woman with hyperthyroidism (1-2.5 TSH). I don't know what the long term plan will be but hypo if left unchecked can be a risk for miscarriage so it sounds like your doctor is just trying to prevent any issues.
Given that he is already treating you and will most likely be checking your levels regularly, this shouldn't be a cause for concern.
