So Col had 3 accidents, I think? Daycare didn't seem concerned given it was day 1, and more importantly, he seemed fine. He even tried before we left daycare and peed as soon as we got home, again after dinner, and again before bed.
I also got to see how they teach the boys to pee standing up. The toilet is standard - maybe a little low? - so they lift the lid, raise their arms to hold onto the lid for balance (ewww) and lean forward. The top of the bowl hits them at the perfect height as long as their hips are flush to the toilet. Kind of gross but Col seemed to feel grown up about it, so whatever.
I'm going to be doing laundry every night this week to keep up with his outfit changes.
Col didn't pee before leaving for daycare this morning. I asked DH to make him go as soon as he got there, but I'm still waiting to hear from him. I also wanted some honest feedback from his teacher on whether this seems premature, how long they'll give him if he's having multiple accidents a day, if they'll tell us if they think he's just not ready, etc. I'm just not feeling very positive today, but that may be at least partially thanks to Chase waking up WIRED at 4:30 this morning. At least I got some one-on-one time with him - I feel like I've barely paid attention to him since we started PTing Colin.
And he didn't pee for DH. I kind of figured DH would give-up quickly... And I just got a call that another kid bit him. What a crappy morning.
Aw poor Col. I hope that kid steps on legos.
Poor Col, but that's kinda mean Peach. C has, unfortunately, been the biter before. A kid tried to take his snack. I'd hate to think people would want him hurt over it.

I laughed but the usual biter is actually a good kid and I LOVE his parents. I'm sure Col will let me know tonight, he LOVES to tattle.
I haven't seen any pics since about 10:30 this morning, but he was still in his original clothes at that point. I just hope it's because he's using the potty, and not holding unnecessarily.

Thats how I meant it.. obviously not wishing harm on another child. Matthew is a biter. Fortunately (unfortunately?) It's never happened at the sitters. Only home and usually to poor jack jack. Sometimes me, dh or nana.
Right, but saying you hope he steps on legos? Really?
Update: We've got peeing down, but pooping is a no-go. Which means a lot of gross underwear. I've thought about switching back to pull-ups until he will do both, although that might be confusing.
I'm late to this, but this was so C. We went through so many underwear cause there is no way im cleaning poop out of underwear. I just cut them off and into the trash they went!
So they are putting him in a pull-up for naps and playground time (since there's no bathroom nearby). But I picked Col up in the same clothes I sent him in - he even pooped in the potty. So he really turned things around.

We are on hour 12 of big boy undies and no accidents. However I don't know that he's pooped on the potty at all ever. He doesn't seem to have that one figured out... any advice?
kellykinns, way to go Doug! I wouldn't worry too much about poop yet. It's really common for kids to figure out pee first and eventually catch on to poop. Keep giving him praise and talking about it. If you catch him in the act see if he's willing to go on the toilet. If he's "on a schedule" (Cass is an afternoon pooper) you can ask him a lot around that time if he has to go or just put him on the toilet and encourage him to try.
Here's another question: night time training? I don't even talk about it at this point. Some days he wakes up dry others super wet... I am not totally convinced he's really ready for potty training since he never has asked to go potty. I'm just going slow.
Col had one accident today and was peeing and pooping on the potty in truly prolific fashion this evening. The whole process will probably take longer than I initially thought but he's doing so well and is so into it. FX that he doesn't do a 180 again.
RE nighttime training: V told us to stop putting diapers on her one day. It was probably a couple of months after she was fully day trained. She just said no more diapers, only panties so we followed her lead. Surprisingly she only had a few accidents.
I agree with not pushing it. They might let you know when they are ready!

Just wanted to drop in and report that B has had no accidents since Sunday (we started under only on Sat morning). I am so proud of her and hoping I haven't jinxed us. She still doesn't always tell us if she has to go- we are just persistent w putting her on the potty frequently, as is DC.

I'm gonna bounce off on this. I had zero intention of night training but H decided she was done with diapers. She would take them off as soon as she was in her bed so I just stopped putting them on her. She was waking up usually around 11:30/12 and 3ish for a while but now sleeps through the night without issue. She has only had a couple of accidents.

I'm done buying pullups. I told Cadence if she can wake up dry through the rest of the ones we have then she can start wearing panties. She is doing it so far, but I think we have like 20 of them left.
Wait on night training until they are either telling you they are ready or are consistently waking up dry.
B did great! One accident that required a change, 2 poops in the potty. The only thing is he isn't telling anyone that he has to go yet, but they are taking him all the time.
Then tonight he peed a little, said he was peeing, held it and ran to the toilet. So all in all it was a good day. FX for tomorrow.

Nighttime training isn't on my radar either. I also had planned to keep him in a diaper for naps, but he refused the diaper so we went ahead and tried it and he has yet to have an accident. My in-laws insist that he shouldn't be in a diaper at bedtime. They put him to bed recently and he woke up MOTN having wet the bed. I'm in no hurry to go down that road.
