I'm up early with DD since I kept her home from school.
Did you know that giant antibiotic pills don't mix well with pregnancy nausea even if you take your zofran? It's definitely a fun time over here this morning.
I did get the sweetest text from H that said "I can't believe I felt our baby kick...it was so soft but it kept happening over and over and it was unmistakably the single greatest moment of my life."
housecarder, sorry the antibiotics aren't making you feel that well. But that text is adorable.
I'm desperately trying to finish my coffee, while it's hot. I think we may be closer on a name for this new mini, but I'm not 100% yet. I had forgotten how hard this was.
TheTuna15 I am so glad we started the naming process while we were doing IVF. It gave us something to look forward to and a head start since our tastes are so different.
When we first started H legitimately asked for Beastman and Bellatrix. I love HP as much as the next but DNW my daughter named after Voldemort's crazed groupie.

I just had this convo with my other BmB. Why do men try to name children after shows/books of their youth? MH made a hard push for Buffy. Like the vampire slayer. He actually brought how how she's a feminist icon in his argument. No dice, babe. I'd rather she have a more out there name than a pop culture name.

I honestly love a lot of names from HP. We even had a HP wedding so I understand the connection. But I'm not going to use a name that is only recognized as a HP name. Hermione or Xenophilius-no, James or Ronan- yes. I even said ok to Abraxas as a middle for a boy, but most would never know the connection.

If it's a boy, I'm going to send Joss Whedon a thank you note because the only name we've ever agreed on is because of one of his characters. If it's a girl, I have no idea what we're going with. I'd like our runner up from DD but my H thinks that ship has sailed. It is hard to name humans and then after 1,562 hours of deliberation you agree on something and your MIL says, "Hmmm, what about Olivia instead? I like that more."
housecarder, The recognizability is really the biggest problem. There's a lot of names that we loved but because they're so recognizable as part of a certain show/movie/book we hard passed on them.

Is it from Firefly? <--- obviously I'm one of those people still bitching about that getting cancelled.
My mother does that constantly. I've stopped talking to her about names because it's torture.

Well our name is Malcolm. My best friend has a Xander. We could start collecting Whedon babies in my life.
It may not scream WHEDON until someone takes the plunge and names a kid Buffy, Spike, or Angel. Willow is another Whedon that MH was into. River too.
Neither choice is really a namesake, just coincidence. My husband's taste is so questionable that I won't suggest the others. I just never know with him. "This is our son, Dr. Horrible."
cabbagecabbage, hahaha! MH thinks it's funny to suggest totally normal names, and then make them totally unacceptable. "How about Nick for a boy?" That's not bad "First name Nick. Middle name Fury." No..... "First name Paul." Uh huh "Middle name Walker." Not happening.
Had my check-up yesterday. As soon as she put the doppler on me, you could hear the heartbeat loud and clear. She also asked if I had felt anything yet. I said no, and she said that she could hear a lot of movement... we have a busy baby! I think I'm in for it when I do start to feel movement.
And then my OB teased me by offering to find out the sex!! H wasn't with me, so I had to say no. I couldn't believe it!!
I'm here. Home with DS since he threw up at school yesterday. He slept until 7:10 (usually up at 5) and now he's eating everything in sight. FX we are over the puke. I might take him for a hair cut since this is out of control!

TheTuna15 don't remind me about Firefly, I'm still upset too. H did that too and suggested Jack as a middle name, and I was like "that's not bad" until he said he wanted Captain as the first. Captain Jack Harkness, not Sparrow. cabbagecabbage I like the name Malcolm! But who doesn't love Captain Mal.

Everyone should always love Captain Mal, and I will never not cry about Wash. Nothing sadder in that damn series. MH actually tried Clara Rose on me. He just took the two hottest companions he could think of and put their names together.

The quote from Gina Torres always gets me: "I like to believe there’s a wiry haired redhead boy with freckles and that Jane babysits and that he and I have arguments over whose going to teach him about guns." MH threw out Clara as a name but took it back as the seasons went on and she was awful. River was also thrown out as a suggestion for both Firefly and Doctor Who.
housecarder, Let me tell you that I legitimately read through a list of 2500 names. We agreed on 6. I don't even understand how that's possible.
My H and I are the same. And our criteria for going on the list is if we both don't hate the name. And we can only come up with 4 girl and 1 boy names. Ugh.
