Today's not a bad day here either! Made it to my early meeting on time (I have somewhat of a reputation for being late) and I don't hate my outfit too! Now I just hope the rest of the day goes quickly so I can have some time with DD before bed. Her outfit is shiny silver leopard print leggings
I think I've finally come to the time when I need to start eating small snacks. It's only been 4 hours since breakfast and I feel weak and SO HUNGRY. Feels like I haven't eaten in days.
Second time moms c'mere please. I was thinking about this a few days ago going through DS's stuff but what baby items do plan on reusing? What are you planning on buying new? I need to compare notes
I started to make a list and then deleted as I realized- we'll be reusing *everything* except the crib and dresser, since DD is still using them. We were team green so all the newborn clothes will be good for this baby too!
I decided to venture out with DS on the hunt for ginger candies. Going to the health food store first.
Can't remember where you're from, but I know most Stop & Shops in my area sell Gin Gins. They're extra strength ginger candies. I found them in the Natural Foods aisle.

So far today I had a piece of toast on my way to work, oatmeal for breakfast at work, then some grapes for a mid-morning snack. Someone on my team is off picking up lunch now, then I have an apple and string cheese for an afternoon snack to hold me over until I get home for dinner. And I'm usually starving again by the time I get home.

I'm curious about this too. The question may warrant its own thread.

Yeah I thought about making a thread. Then got lazy and posted it here

Omg! Yes!! I am eating myself out of house and home!!

I'm using most everything again. I'll be getting this baby a new crib mattress because I've heard you're not supposed to share those. We are going to sell our Mamaroo and get a swing. Maybe I'll start a thread of "favorite baby things" because I have THE BEST changing pad! It hugs him so he can't flip over so it makes older baby changes sooooo much easier!

I've been thinking about this too and making a list as I think of things. So far for duplicate items I need: Changing pad (new one for DS- just a cheap one. We have the keekaroo peanut pad which is AMAZING but expensive so we won't be getting two. DS doesn't have accidents on the pad anymore so he doesn't need the keekaroo) White noise machine Humidifier.
That's all I've got so far. I plan on reusing almost everything else

Reusing: Anything I can really... Crib Dresser Changing pad Linens Rocker Toys/play mats Clothes - some or all depending on sex Moby/baby carrier High chair Infant car seat Yoga ball - lifesaver for calming a crying baby and for bedtime Pack n Play + nap/changing inserts Co-sleeper Swaddles/sleep sacks Some outgrown diapers Bottles
New: Bouncy - we destroyed the last one Swing - we had a hand me down and it wasn't that great. May reuse because those are expensive. Exersaucer - hand me down was really outdated... I want a new one for this baby. They are so cool now! Pump - borrowed from SIL and I am not sure, but I think it wasn't working right. I think a new one would be good. I should have done it with this baby. Sound machine - baby will need their own Booster seat - toddler can graduate from the high chair Convertible car seat - toddler can upgrade to a convertible Double stroller - cuz two babes Toddler bed Rocker - not sure if I'll still need one in the toddler's room. I am hoping that bedtime will rely less on boobs when she's 2.
I didn't have an issue with this at all with DS bc I was uber excited being pregnant and scheduled my confirmation appt as soon as humanly possible after my BFP. With round 2 though now I'm all about convenience.
I feel less miffed that other OBs seem to do this too. Thanks for the quick feedback ladies.
My OB's office won't schedule anything prior to 8 weeks. I asked whether or not they had a process to confirm before that and they were confused why I would want that. Finally they called back and told me the doctor had put in a lab order for me. I assumed it would be to pee in a cup, but they did a blood test instead.
So, I have no idea what this first appointment is going to be, since they prefer to wait until the 8-10 week mark.

This is #3 for us and I'm reusing pretty much all equipment/furniture/toys/clothes from the first two (we have a girl & a boy, so we have lots of both types of clothes, and all the nursery stuff/furniture etc. is gender-neutral). So pacifiers & nipples for bottles are pretty much all I plan to replace.
I am planning to get a new breast pump this time because the one I have is 8 years old and is not that great, and I think a new one is covered by my insurance.
LadyNymeria, legit lol! I sent this to my co-workers.
cbrandt1, why are you not supposed to re-use crib mattresses? DS just got a big bed so I was hoping on recycling everything crib related!
theotherjacobsons, my insurance paid for a brand new pump with DS, check out your coverage.
Items I plan to buy for baby: double stroller, noise machine, changing pad, dresser. Also, if it's a girl, probably some girly clothes so go with the boy clothes she will get second hand. So happy we got DS out of the crib so I can re-use! I'm not spending money on another one!
f14mama, I have no clue. And honestly when I tell DH he's going to say that's really f*****g stupid and we will use it again. He wants to get DS a big boy bed and just put rails up so we aren't wasting a bunch of money.
Eta- I just remember this being a big topic on my other board but I didn't pay attention because it wasn't an issue for me then.

My insurance only covers a percentage of the cost of a rental. I checked last time. I guess it could have changed in a year, but I doubt it.

I think mainly it's a hygiene thing. Stains and fluids get into the mattress but I also want to say it possibly a SIDS issue. The mattress gets worn down.
