Looks like we're having a baby this week.

Went in for my routine 37 week appointment, and my blood pressure was elevated to 128/90. The midwife was concerned because this was my second elevation in as many weeks, so I got to pee in a cup and have my blood drawn. Tests came back today, and the blood work was fine, but I had an elevated level of protein in my urine--anything over 30 is considered PRE-E, and I had a level of 48. For what it's worth, this was a one-time urine catch, not the 24 hour collection, and I was slightly dehydrated. I have no other symptoms at all, no blurred vision, no headaches, and I'm still wearing my rings, so no noticeable swelling. Anyway, long story short, they want me in for induction soon.

I have my next appointment on Wednesday to go over options and check to see if my cervix has progressed(I was 1cm and 50% effaced on Friday) and get my induction day scheduled. Worst case, I'll leave the appointment on Wednesday and go straight to L&D.

I'm nervous, because all along I've been planning an out-of-hospital natural birth, I'm only 37 + 3, and I thought I still had weeks before this would be happening. I guess my body had other ideas. I understand pre-eclampsia is nothing to mess around with, so I'm at peace with everything. Poor DH is a whole other story. He never considered that something like this would happen so suddenly.

Anyway, that's the story. I'll update when I have more info.

Good luck! Keep us posted. As long as your Bp's are in the 120's I don't think they would start you on magnesium while in labor. But if they do be prepared for a catheter and to stay on the magnesium for 24 hours after LO is born. It's not what you wanted but it will be okay.

So glad they found the pre-e. It sucks having your birth plan changed. I wasn't planning a birth out of hospital but I didn't like the idea of induction either.

I have to say though my birth via induction was quicker and less painful (I think because I wasn't so exhausted) than my other spontaneous- start birth. I was able to go med free for my induction and my DSs birth I had two shots of a narcotic (neumorphan?)
