Anyone have the Fisher Price Bright Beats toy? I've been reading the reviews. Most say it is a PIA to assemble.

I'm just sitting here with my nanny baby. She usually falls asleep 30 min after she gets here but only for 30 min. I end up holding her for nap because it's so short and I haven't come up with a good place for her pack n play. Every single room has an interruption and our housemate WON'T MOVE OUT!

Of course both babies are on opposite schedules so Dash will wake once I lay her down, if I end up doing that. I think that's an unwritten baby law, right? Hopefully it will be nice enough to take them out for a walk in the park.

budders that's rough, I hope V is feeling better soon, it does sound like she was pushing for a reason for him to go home. I used to work with a daycare teacher who would do a lot of sending kids home with just minimal symptoms.

I also nannied for a little girl who would throw up if she ate or drank too fast so if that happened in the morning we'd have to cross our fingers she wouldn't tell her teachers or they would send her home for 24 hours even though it had zero to do with a contagious illness.

budders, that does sound weird. DS does the same thing, he'll spit up/throw up a long time after a bottle when he's congested - I wonder sometimes if it has to do with all the extra mucus in there. I'm glad he's not as sick as you originally thought, though that makes it a pain to have to rearrange your schedule. I hope he is back to 100% soon!
@jemomma, stop it with this one nap nonsense. They take two naps a day until they graduate high school, right??? No way could I deal with just one a day!

txngrl31 we just got ours, or wasn't too hard to put together. The directions were a little challenging to understand.

So far, in our house, it isn't that big of a hit. I am going to give it a little more time to see and then resell if it's not getting any love.

We have it. She likes spinning the little gear on the bottom but hasn't figured out how to touch the bar to make music.

Joolschweets, would it be easy enough to contact the father for a game? We played a game at my shower that had us try to guess what my DH's replies were to various pregnancy and baby related questions. It was pretty cute because he was so off on some of his answers: How many diapers does a newborn use in a day? He thought up to 5. How old is the child when they stop taking naps every day? He guessed second grade. Lol DH.

Happy Wednesday. I'm working from home today since the sitters kids are sick. At least I get to rock pjs and the messy bun all day!

budders , The daycare I used to work for had the same 24 hour policy. We took the temp under the arm and that had to read at least 100* before we could send home (add a degree to make it really 101.) We might give a curiosity call to the parents to let them know if it was reading 99.5+ but usually only if there were other flags. They had to be fever free (without the aid of medication) for 24 hours. Throwing up was also a 24 hour policy but we knew that some kids were a little more apt to throw up than others and it usually wasn't caused by an actual illness. My boss might have sent them home but would tell the parents if they don't do it again the rest of the day they can come back tomorrow.
I agree with the fact that I think they were stretching pretty far just to send V home. Especially given V's history with spitting up.
If you work in a child care profession, you should be able to tell the difference between throwing up because they gagged, coughed too hard/much and throwing up in general.
Hopefully this makes sense.

+1 to a non-cuddly baby over here. She has never really been all that cuddly, she used to nurse to sleep and then I could hold her, but since transitioning to the crib that is a thing of the past, she just wants to be on the move. I am holding out hope for a cuddly toddler!

Our nanny reminded me today of a 2 week vacation she is taking in March, guess I better get on finding some alternate care...

My parents are taking 2 weeks to go to Hawaii in March, so I'm losing 4 days of care. I thought about just taking a week off while they were gone but then I would just come back to a huge pile of work. 

In other news, I emailed a licensed in-home care yesterday who posted a craigslist ad that she had an infant spot open.  She hasn't emailed me back yet, though. It hasn't quite been 24 hours, but I kind of expected some kind of response by now.

I had to make some phone calls, and E was fussy so I put him in his carrier to calm him down. He is passed out at least an hour before his usual nap time. Maybe he'll take his afternoon nap at a decent time now too!

I think I'm going to be guessing like this until E is old enough to buy his own clothes. So far, I'm getting a little of both and just try to keep in mind what would be spring/early summer vs late summer/early fall. At least the clothing sizes span a greater number of months, so she likely will fit the clothes at some point during the season.

DD (July baby) was in size 18 months all summer when she was just turning 1 and well into the fall.  Right around the 1 year mark was when her rapid growth really started to slow down. 

LO is in 9 months now, excepted anything footed which is 12 months.  I have been buying him 12 month stuff for spring and 18 months for summer.

How much does your LO weigh @bubbs119 ? You can get away with smaller sizes for dresses and stuff. There's no issue with length so they usually fit a lot longer. I find carters sizing is so small. We are just getting into 18 months now and he is around 22 lbs, 30 inches. Seems wrong.

Well my BFF found out that she is not just having a boy but twin boys. So that is another reason for me to buy lots of boy clothes right? Because it will eventually get rehomed to 2 babies? Can you see my logic?

txngrl31 We have the beat bar thingy. DH assembled it while I put O to bed one night. He likes to sit in it and can reach the lower bars to touch. He does like it a lot and gets excited by the music.


In other news, one of my students pooped their pants yesterday and didn't tell me. Awesome. Can't wait for the convo with administration about that one.
To be fair, the first time the student asked to go to the bathroom I did say no. When they returned a few minutes later with the urgent look in their eyes, I said "Go. Yes. Go to the bathroom. Now." Apparently that meant in their pants instead of the toilet or something. Ugh.

I got a new class added to my Wednesday schedule which means my pumping schedule is now effed. Guess I'll start pumping while I drive again so I can leave on time? Or pump 1 1/2 hours after my mid-day rushed session? Boooooo.

See, 6 month clothes are too big on my kid still. We got a bunch of 12 month clothes for summer that i know won't fit her. I don't know if I should buy 9 months or what.

I chose to eat lunch at my sister's house with her and my nieces and LO and I'm paying for it - she has cats and I'm allergic. I'm all stuffy and itchy now.

I think our DD's are on the same tiny growth schedule;) I'm hoping that the 12m summer clothes will at least fit her in the late summer months (end of July, and August)...we have SO many things in that size:(

LO has been on a bottle strike, progessively getting worse over the last few days, and daycare is threatening to kick him out (for the rest of the day). Awesome-sauce. I assume its teething related.

ETA He refused both bottles there today but has been eating food there. Feeding him at home has been more of a battle too, but i am persistent.
