Help. Again. My signs used to be so clear - definite +OPKs, clear thermal shifts, no guessing required. But last cycle and this I feel like all I'm doing is guesswork.

This past week the CBEFM has been giving me high readings (meaning estrogen is rising, which precedes an LH surge). I am also doing OPKs because the CBEFM missed my LH surged sometime this fall. The OPKs got steadily darker, I was feeling very confident that things were going well, and on Saturday I got an OPK that I stared at for a long time before deciding it was negative. Part of that decision was based on the fact that the CBEFM didn't give me a peak reading (which it does when it senses an LH surge).
However, I think that that OPK could have been read either way.

Starting Sunday, though, the OPK lines got much fainter. And my temps kind of rose (today obviously, but the days before not as obviously). So now FF is saying I O'd on Saturday, but my OPK was a very iffy positive.

WDYT?? Should we keep going as if I haven't O'd and do EOD until it's absolutely clear? Or do you agree with FF and think it must have been a +OPK on Saturday? I wish FF had an option for the OPKs that says "Maybe but I'm not sure"... sigh.

I'm going to agree with FF at this point. Maybe your LH surges have been short for some reason and you're just barely missing them, which is why your OPK's look iffy. I always go with temps over anything else, and I do think your temps indicate that you O'd. That looks a lot like some of my temp shifts, with a dip on O day and then a slower rise until your temps are obviously above pre-O levels.

I'm not totally convinced by that thermal shift. I say when in doubt, hump it out. I'm reserving judgment for at least a few more temps/readings.

I think it's hard to call right now. Is 97.3 typcially within the range of post-ovulation temps for you? It's possible that you ovulated on CD15 and today is the beginning of the rise. It's also possible that FF is right about your O date. The next few days will tell the tale. If you have energy and motivation still, you could try to DTD one more time, but I think you've got it covered already.

I temp in Celsius, but doing some quick calculations on the fly, yes 97.3 is my typical post-O range. The 97.1-97.2 temps are iffy - they could be high pre-O or low post-O temps. Usually I'll be around 96.8 and then jump to 97.3 post-O. Like I said, I usually have very clear thermal shifts. I have no idea what's going on this cycle. Last cycle I could write off with the international flight.
My temps are very dependent on time, and during the past few days I have woken up at 4:45 and decided to temp then instead of my usual 5:05 (when I have to get up for work) because I didn't want to just lay awake for 15 min and then have that affect my temps. So it's possible my post-O temps are lower than usual because I temped a bit earlier. Sigh. More waiting and seeing, I guess.

Have you tried taking the temp of your belly button? ;-)

Ok, so I'm certifiable (it's ok, I've come to terms with it), and experimented a little. On Tuesday I took my temp at 4:45 when I woke up (36.17 C, which is 97.1 ish. Then I kinda drifted off to sleep again, and when my alarm went off at 5:05 I temped again and it was 97.3. So if the same was true on Sun and Mon, when I also temped early, then I would see a clearer shift.
But I would feel strange artificially upping my temps to make up for the 20 min difference. FF doesn't seem to think it makes a difference. I think for me it does, but I don't know how much of a difference 20 minutes would consistently make.

I think 20 minutes is insignificant. Even though your temps depend more on timing to be accurate, anything within a half hour of normal temping time is considered acceptable.

And, never temp twice! It'll just drive you nuts when the numbers are inevitably different enough to cause over analyzing
