Anyone still in the market for a car seat?

So ladies... I am an idiot. After hours of research, H and I decided to go with the Maxi-Cosi Mico AP for LO's car seat. I then proceeded to find the best deal I could, and ended up ordering it from the US. Turns out, it is straight up illegal to import a car seat from the states for use in Canada. Like, hefty fines, revoked insurance, possible lawsuit illegal. I had no idea. Apparently Transport Canada has some seriously stringent safety criteria, and even though the *exact same* seat is available for purchase here in Canada with no modification to the specs whatsoever, they won't allow one from the US. How can they tell where you got it? The Canadian ones have an additional safety seal with a maple leaf stamped into the plastic...

Anyway, what I'm wondering is if any of you American ladies happen to have been eyeing the same seat and might like to purchase mine. It is a great seat, the lightest "premium" one on the market, and one of Lucie's List's recommendations. Brand new (I didn't even get a chance to install it,) comes with base and adapts for use with most strollers. We will be using ours (the Canadian-purchased one) with a City Jogger Versa. I paid over $200 Canadian for it, but would be willing to work out a deal for whoever might want to take it off my hands... I just need to be able to recuperate some of the money we spent to be able to buy another one. Here they retail for $239 Canadian. It was manufactured in October, 2014 and the colour is "Gracious Grey". Here's what it looks like:

I realize this is a bit of an unconventional post, and it's probably against the TOU to be flogging merchandise, but I'm hoping you guys/Proboards will cut me a break on this one. Is there any reason you can't return it from where you bought it so you can buy it again in Canada?

Ugh, I just went through this not even 3 weeks ago. Ordered the Uppababy Mesa car seat to go with our vista stroller and then started talking to a woman in a store about how Canada doesn't carry the car seat anywhere only to be told that Canadians are not allowed to use an American car seats EVER. I had no clue that was even a thing. Thankfully I was able to return the car seat and also went with the Maxi Cosi Mico AP.

I hope you can return the seat through the website and maybe just explain the reasoning since its well justified. Goodluck!

I already have my seat too, but I also never would've guessed about those restrictions! GL returning or recouping your funds! I'm shocked they'd allow you to buy it as far as checkout if these restrictions were in place, it seems the seller would know, or something!

Unfortunately, my stupidity knows no bounds and it was purchased on eBay from a seller who doesn't accept returns. Go me.

I'm sorry to hear that! I had my heart set on the Cybex Aton 2 or Q and it took me ages to figure out why I couldn't figure out how to order it. I wish I could think of a way you could sell it to an American. In good news, I'm quite certain that Americans can use Canadian seats legally so maybe that will help resale?
