Restarting old weekly/monthly threads

There has been some talk in the past couple weeks about restarting some of the old weekly/monthly threads like GKU book club, the weekly photo challenge, AMAs (specific topics like jobs/hobbies/cities not general AMAs), etc.

I'm not sure the best way to organize this but thought I could start this thread and maybe people could discuss ideas and volunteer to be in charge of each type of thread we want to restart.

wanderingheart was in charge of book club before but I believe she is willing to pass that on to someone else. I know ugaqueencity  and others asked about book club recently too...

I can't even remember who used to used to participate in the photo challenge but if anyone wants to take that on, it should be pretty easy to get started again! 

And if someone else wants to volunteer to organize a new AMA schedule, maybe we could start another thread where people could request and/or offer ideas and topics for AMAs. 

Any other old threads we want to revive? Or new ideas for regular thread topics?

Let's not do the the AMAs by poster. I liked the ones on Parenting that were specific to a poster's intriguing field or area of expertise.

Yes I agree. That's why I thought we could have another thread (or people could do it here if they wanted) where we came up with some AMA topics. People can offer to AMAs about their careers or hobbies or whatever and can be added to a schedule if there is interest in that topic.

I think someone could just start the photo challenge, then whoever wins just picks it back up. I guess it depends on who wants to pick the first challenge

yay book club being back! boo because I have zero time.

I would be more than happy to do an AMA, or tag team an AMA, for example we have several teachers here at different grade levels/subjects or we could do a knitting/crocheting one and I know we have a few of those, like rooskie...

Everyone gets the same topic and has to take a picture within the week. Then on the final day a thread is started for the pictures and the most tits wins. Winner picks next topic.

The photo has to have been taken the prior week? So if we start tomorrow, say Best Winter pic, then all submissions are from the past week? I thought it would be more like go take a picture of winter and post before the end of the week.

I think it's this. The wording is confusing. I think it means in the week prior to the closing date of the challenge. So the challenge starts on say Thursday and closes on the following Wednesday and then people can vote, and the picture needs to be from the "prior" 7 days before that Wednesday.

Right? At least that's the way I always understood it.

Yes. The rules were always that you had to have taken the picture in the 7 days leading up to the day that pictures get posted. It was srs business. Which could be challenging for themes like "winter" but were super fun for things like "favorite accessory".

What day do we want to photo challenge to start?

We could have someone kick it off, then do what we used to do and have the winner start it with the theme they picked the next week.

If I would remember to start it, I would kick it off, but I KNOW I will forget so I will leave it to someone else. Lol

Also, I think just to make it easy, whomever volunteers to start it should get to pick the first theme.

Haha, maybe that's why it died out. No one broke the tie so there was no one to start the photo challenge the next week...
