Sweating the small stuff (for registries)

What do you ladies have on your registries outside of the big gear? My church is insisting on throwing me a shower and asked for my registry.

I already have bouncers and swings from previous kids and siblings, just bought our car seats and a double snap and go, and they already have cribs. Other than boring stuff like diapers, wipes, bottles, I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a variety of stuff to add.

I know people will probably just buy clothes anyway, but I wanted to have a guide for those who wanted ideas.

I would go with things like pacifiers, bibs, towels, washcloths and feeding items like spoons and forks. And maybe shampoo and lotion. For bibs, you could go for both the cloth spit ups ones, and I also recommend the nice silicone ones for when they are older.

Those are some things that will fill up the less expensive side, but are also really nice to have.

That's so sweet of them housecarder! I just borrowed the Baby Bargains book from a neighbor because I do not remember much of this from the last time I was pregnant over 4 years ago (a lot of sleep deprivation has happened in those years!). The smaller things they mention are lamps, mobiles, bath toys, monitor, bottles, thermometer, pacifiers, etc.

This time around, I registered for:

Cloth diapers
Wet bags
New diaper bag
New changing pad
Travel changing clutch
Soap and lotion
Breast pads
Stroller organizer
A few books

I mostly made the registry to organize my list and for discounts but that's what I plan to get this time.

So far, the small items I have on mine are:

-The soaps, diaper creams, etc that we use
-Baby hangers
-Changing pad covers
-spare sheets
-Prefold cloth diapers (they were awesome for using as burp rags and come in a pack of like 8-12)
-wipes
-small packs of diapers
-gripe water
-infant ibuprofen
-packs of socks
-breastfeeding items (pads, cream, etc)
-Car charger for my breast pump
-bottle scrubber
-anti-scratch mittens

I have lots of cloths, a few hooded towels, crib sheets, play pen sheets, baby blankets, burp cloths, swaddle blankets, things to put bath toys in, a couple toys, stroller cover, mirror for the back seat to see the kid, window shades, bibs, nursing pads, milk freezer bags, pack of travel-size baby lotions etc.

I figured clothes, baby-proofing accessories, diapers, and lotions etc people would just get anyway. On my toys r us one it's mostly mediumish stuff (diaper bag, carrier, floor gym etc)

I really like the idea of adding mittens and medicines though!

Ray, I thought the mirrors were no longer suggested because in a car accident they could dislodge and cause injury.

DS is still rear facing, and he's had a mirror since he was an infant.  I like being able to see him for piece of mind and keeping him awake on those 15 minute drives close to nap time (5 minute car naps ruining nap time are my enemy!).  In my opinion, the mirror is no more dangerous than having bags or other loose articles fly around in an accident.  And the mirror I have is pretty securely fastened and is soft as well so I doubt it would cause much harm.  So yeah, I've heard from some people mirrors aren't safe, but it's not really something I'm losing sleep over.

Plus 1 for having a mirror. My almost 2 year old is really quiet in the car. I've panicked thinking I left him somewhere or something has happened to him back there. The mirror is securely fastened to the headrest and eases my mind. Plus he loves looking at himself in it.

housecarder I never really thought of that but I agree with rungirlrun. Unless I put my coffee, diaper bag, Kleenex box, sunglasses etc in the trunk or something I think the benefits of a mirror will outweigh the risk for us.

I am so terrible at registries. I won't be having a shower so my registry is simply set up as a list for me. I will add a bunch of teething stuff to our list though, Sophie the giraffe being my main teether toy.

I don't have a registry put together yet, but am planning to do one or two just for completion discounts. Since it's just for me I'll probably throw a couple things on there that I need for the toddler - like step stools and maybe things for her new room. Maybe some additional baby proofing stuff too; she's such a chill little girl we've not baby proofed much, but I'm a little more concerned about a boy.

DS loved Sophie when he was teething he would speak her and chew on her legs and face. She is soft, she squeaks, and I assume she tastes good because it was DS's favorite. I like that she is made of natural rubber and painted with food paint so I know it's safe if LO chews on her all the time. DS preferred her over all other tethers, even the cold ones.

I knew there was probably a reason but never tried it.
DD loved the vibrating ones to teeth on.

My child is not a Sophie lover. She was always pretty indifferent.

My son liked Sophie but wasn't obsessed. Had we not had it, life would have gone on. I'd still put it on the registry though - great to get as a gift but not something really necessary to pay for yourself.
