When are you breaking out your maternity clothes?

This is a nonsense clicky poll for the sake of clicky polls. 

I'm wearing maternity jeans today because I've noticed things are getting a bit tight and I couldn't be bothered to do the laundry because, lazy. I think by next week I'll start living in these. So much roooooom! But it made me wonder... when do you think you'll start to wear those maternity clothes???

I voted 10-12 weeks, but I probably should have voted 8-10 weeks. By the end of the day yesterday, my jeans were feeling a bit tight, so I can't see all my regular jeans fitting for the next 4 weeks.

I'm guessing 10 weeks. I intentionally purchased clothes in a size up within the past few months, so I'm hoping those carry me through for the next month. Everything is getting so tight, so I might not make it that long.

I voted 10-12 realistically, since I've been showing earlier with each pregnancy. But, ideally I'd like to wait as long as possible. I get so sick of them by the end!! Like I couldn't wait to zip up pants again last time. Or have something without rouching on the sides.

Do my fat pants and loose shirts count at maternity clothes? I only work 2 days a week and I wear those jeans both days now. My normal pants don't feel comfortable anymore.

I voted 10-12 but I don't know how realistic that actually is. This is my third baby, but I started showing later actually the second time (which surprised me), so I'm just not sure what to expect. I started wearing maternity pants at about 15 weeks with DS1, then about 18 weeks with DS2.

I voted 10-12 weeks because that's when I bought my first bit of maternity wear last time. Though, that was just these bands of fabric that kept my pants up when they were unbuttoned. I think I actually ended up wearing my own pants with the button undone until almost 20 weeks.

I expect I'll be in maternity clothes early this time around because a) I have them and b) I will not be at all surprised if I start showing a lot sooner. Plus, I'm 5lbs heavier to start than I was then.

I honestly want to start buying some. I'm good on shirts for awhile, but my pants are already getting too tight on my bloat days, which are hard to predict. I feel awful wanting to buy clothes before I even have an ultrasound though. But President's Day sales... At the very least I'm probably going to buy one of those bans that allows me to discreetly unbutton my pants.

target has some. They're exactly like the Belly Band brand but much cheaper. I think they're called Be Bands?

I'm hoping it won't be for a bit, but basically whenever I get uncomfortable. I have some amazing maternity jeans from last pregnancy that have the little elastic triangles on the sides. They are awesome and you can't even tell they're maternity-wear if your top covers the belt line. Those will be the first to come out of the closet.

I'm only 5 weeks, and nothing feels tight yet, so I'm not sure. I work from home and pretty much live in yoga pants anyway.

I didn't vote because I have no idea! Last time I didn't start until 18 weeks I think. But I've heard STMs show sooner. My maternity clothes are all fall/winter stuff - I have ZERO summer items. I really want to buy some now, especially with all the President's Day sales going on, but I'm feeling superstitious.

For jeans I have gotten maternity ones out - I hate waistbands on regular jeans anyway. Stretchy all the way.

Shirts and dresses will probably a bit later.

I have no idea. My last pregnancy was 14 years ago so....My clothes were already a little snug from IVF bloat so I'm trying to avoid certain pants and only wearing looser fitting tops now. My SIL did give me her Bella bands and I think they might be a bit big still so I'm sticking with some of my bigger sized pants for now. I'm only 6 weeks tomorrow, so I have some time

I've already ordered a bunch of maternity stuff because it was on sale and I need some jeans that aren't so tight in the belly. I'm also bloated from IVF, so I'm sure I won't be in maternity tops for quite a while. I also have a belly band that I'm going to try to use, bit I don't think it'll hold my pants up since I'm not shaped like most people.

Your resident SS here. I wear scrubs to work and pjs/yoga pants at home. So I don't know when I will bust out the maternity pants. I haven't worn jeans since I was last in maternity pants 2 years ago.

Okay ladies - those of you STMs - Buying maternity clothes. They say to stick to the size I am NOW when ordering clothes for later. I'm assuming that's to make it easier on me. The problem is right now I'm between a 4-8 depending on brand. Meaning I'm between a S-M. I obviously don't want to buy clothes that are going to get to small on me later, but I'd hate to buy too big as well, because my waist hips tend to be small but my bum is HUGE. Buying big usually means it's way to lose on my hips.

Advice? Not sure where the extra weight is gonna go, but I need to order some clothes soon if this bloat continues.

EDIT: Sorry, clarified - pants always tends to be baggy on the small of my back if I order big.

macaronmama, not a stm, but I have the same issue. My plan was to order a few different sizes and see how the different brands fit. If something fits great besides the small of my back, that's why I own several sewing machines. I also don't really know what size I am now because I had to move up to plus size pants because no one apparently makes 18 in maternity clothes.

macaronmama can you get to a store to try stuff on in person? I had a terrible time at H&M last time trying to figure out my size and would have totally failed if I tried to do it online.

That said, DH bought me some pants as a gift and just went with my normal size and they worked out great. If you have to order online, make sure it's pants you can return if you get them and they suck!

macaronmama ordering true to my pre pregnancy size worked for me for pants, but my boobs got so huge I had to go to a L shirt (I'm normally a S). Basically, don't buy a lot in advance, since you're right, you have no idea where the weight will go.

In the beginning I used a hair elastic to extend the zipper/button area of my jeans and made sure I had a cami on that would cover it. Then I went into the store to buy pants when that didn't work and they lasted me the rest of the pregnancy. Got mine at kohls. So excited to wear them again at some point. But also going to have to find shorts this time which will be a new one for me. Not sure how those work, haha.

Thanks everyone - I did go in person to Target to get a pair of pants. Not sure how long they'll last me, but the section was a mess. I couldn't find much in my size at all because almost none of the hangers matched the actual size of the clothing. I found one pair - about six inches too long for short me.

I guess I'll roll them up for now. XD

If you have a cartwheel app, Target is offering either 5 or 10% off be bands. I'll be grabbing one today along with some type of soft bra for around the house. My boobs hurt and my bras hurt.

I voted 6-8 weeks because of my bloat. I got so bloated from IVF stims that my poor pants just didn't have a chance. Right now I'm wearing leggings and tunics/dresses mostly. I can't even get my normal jeans buttoned. :-\

I was wrong. Cartwheel has 25% off! Makes them like $12.50. I got one, but don't know if it's the right size. Looking at the chart on the back, I either need the m/l or more likely the l/xl which isn't sold in stores son I can't use cartwheel deals on them

I work from home on Fridays and it's the best day of my week. Wish I could wear my yoga pants to work every day.
