Don't let me plan a birthday party ever again

Uuuuuugh. It was supposed to be smaller this year. Direct family and a couple of DS's friends. Well some of DH's family got wind and bitched up a storm about not being invited. So now there are going to be 30something people in my small house. I haven't even started to clean or order food/cake.

I swear next year it's just going to be the three of us at chuckie cheese.

I will say we had 30 some folks in our small house (1,400 sq ft) for DS2's party and it went better than I expected. I was really worried about space, but it ended up being ok. We did EASY food - chips/salsa, fruit/veggies, pretzels, hot dogs/burgers.

Ugh.That does not sound like fun. Sorry it ballooned into something so big. Can you keep the food simple and only clean the parts of the house that people will see?

ericalee27 We were going to do more complicated food but with the amount of people I might be changing it to a pizza/cake/ice cream thing. We have limited seating so now I need to hunt down chairs. Yaaaaay.

Yeah I'm changing the food and only cleaning the downstairs.

Boo. Won't it be nice when their birthdays are just about them and their friends?

We did an "open invite" to the children's museum for DS's birthday. So we aren't officially hosting a party there, but we invited close friends and family to join in on the fun if they chose. I will bring cupcakes and snacks and we will take a break to sing just outside the museum. If it rains, this plan is shot to hell because it's an outdoor museum.

Ugh, I feel your pain. We'll be having 23-24 people in our 1400 sq ft house this weekend. Which is still half the amount of people we had at DD's party at the firehouse last year, but I'm worried it will be too crowded. But DH's immediate family is huge, so it was hard to eliminate people from the guest list. I decided to take the easy way out and spring for Wegman's catering though.

It's about 20 minutes away from us, so I don't do normal grocery shopping there, but I love their catering! I can get more than enough food for everyone for less than $10/person. Totally worth avoiding the hassle and stress of trying to fit making it myself into an already busy work schedule!
