Does anyone care to share her induction birth story? I'm scheduled for tomorrow and getting really nervous. I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight. Just curious how long it was, how quickly contractions started, how dilated you were to start.
(At 41weeks) I think we went in at 7pm and was 1 or 2 cm dilated and like 75% effaced. I'm pretty sure they inserted Cervadil to help things get going during the night but it didn't. So in the morning they started Pitocin. It didn't move things very quickly so they inserted a balloon (fucking ouch) I think around noon and when it got me to 5cm (around 3 maybe?) She took it out and broke my water. There was meconium in the fluid. Contractions were easy peasy until that point and then I got epidural. At some point after that, I started spiking a fever suggesting chorio so Nora would have a minimum 48hr NICU stay to receive antibiotics. I'm not sure when i started pushing but she was born at 10:22pm. So 15hrs total.
I'm opting to be induced at 39w (to help avoid the issues we had) so I obviously didn't think it was too bad. It was all pretty laid back and easy!
I started out about 3 cm when I got to the hospital and they started pitocin. They took it really slowly and only upped the dosage every 2 hours or so. Contractions started right away but took awhile to build up to anything painful. I got to a 7 pretty easily and then seemed to get stuck. For me, it all dragged out all day until they finally broke my water about 16 hours in. That's the only time it started to get painful because I dilated the rest of the way and she was born 20 minutes later. The whole thing was not bad at all, I was just impatient how long it was taking. Good luck, you can do it!!!
With DD I was induced at 41w for low fluids around 6pm wit pitocin. By 4am nothing more than mild cramps had happened. So they took me off the pitocin until 8am.
Second time around on pitocin they put something on the DD's head to monitor heart rate better. At that point my water was broken for sure. Contractions started around 10:30am. I slept from 11:30-1:30. Then around 3 it was time to push. And DD was born 53 minutes later.
So induction wasn't so bad on the second round of pitocin after my water was actually broken. Things happened fairly quickly.
I was dilated to a "small 2" when we went in. I can't remember what I was effaced to. I was at 41 weeks exactly at that point. They started pitocin and broke my water around 7am, and contractions started not too awfully long after. I don't remember exactly what time. By 10:30 I was in pretty severe pain and by 11 I asked for the epidural. Things progressed very well after that and at 3:30 they said I was ready to start pushing. I won't give you the gory details of that part, as he was over 10 lbs and everything at that point was due to his size, not the induction. But long story short he was born about 7pm, 12 hours after they induced me. Overall the induction wasn't bad and I would be willing to do it again with this one, as long as my body is showing signs of being ready, to avoid another 10 pounder.
I was induced at 41 weeks for low fluid. Had cervidil and pitocin and an epidural. They started meds around 6pm on a Friday, labor progressed normally overnight and J came around 10am the next morning after a little over an hour of pushing. Everything was very smooth, and I would not change a thing.
Good luck!
Eta: contractions started pretty quickly, and I was just a "fingertip" dilated to start. I had my epi placed quite early and it helped with the early part of my labor quite well.
I was dialated to 2, and almost 42 weeks. Went in at 7am and started with cervadil. Contractions started within an hour but were manageable. They broke my water shortly before noon, and the contractions got much more intense. I got an epidural probably within a couple of hours and then rested for a little while. I don't know how long I pushed, but he was born at 5:20. Best of luck to you!

I was induced at 41w with my 2nd kid and it wasn't bad at all. Went in at 7am at like 2 cm and 75% and got pit. No pain at that point and I progressed to 4cm by noon and so I got the epi and my doc broke my water. They upped the pit a little and by 3 I was at a 10. LO was out around 4. Mine was very easy, especially compared to my labor with my 1st. I would totally do it again if I had to.

I was induced at 39 weeks for high blood pressure. I was given Cervadil overnight. I was at a 3 and 80% effaced when I went in, and I was 4 and 100% next am. At 6 am, I was given pitocin and water was broken at 7 am. I got epidural at noon (was a 7). I pushed at 5 pm and she was born three hours later at 8 pm. Pushing was the only hard part for me because they had me in the wrong position. When my OB got there at 7:30 pm, it only took a half an hour.

I was also induced at 39 weeks for high BP. Went in at a 1 or 2, maybe 20 or 30% effaced. I was given Cervadil around 8 pm and sort of overreacted to it - contractions all night 1 minute long and 2-3 minutes apart. Around 8 the next morning they took it out, I was maybe 3 cm but 80 or 90% effaced. They started Pitocin right away and broke my water (there was meconium) and I had off the charts contractions. Asked for an epidural around 10:30 and finally got some time to sleep. Around 4 they were worried because I was still only at 5 or 6 cm and turned up the Pitocin. Around 4:30 I was a 9 but half my cervix was stuck on her head and couldn't dilate and she was in severe distress so I had to labor on all fours and go on oxygen for a while. That got me to a 10, around 5 they had me do some practice pushes and stopped me right away to call for the OB. The OB showed up at 5:30 and baby was born sunny side up with the cord around her neck at 5:59 pm.
Like greysonsmom, I was getting ready (showering/packing) to go into the hospital for induction and went into labor. Are they having you come in the evening for cervadil or something similar? That's what the plan was for me. My stepsister had the same plan and the cervadil ended up being all she needed to kickstart labor (no pitocin the next morning needed).

No, I am just doing pitocin in the morning. The doctor thinks I don't need cervadil because it's my second and I'm 2 cm now.
Thank you everyone for your stories! You are making me feel much better and know more what to expect. I was kind of worried pitocin would start and I would be in immediate pain, but it sounds like that's not the case usually.

You don't want my induction story . But, honestly, if you really want a worst case scenario I'd be happy to tell you. I know some people like to know these things going into it.
Best case scenario: My mom had an induction with her 3rd and the entire process was 3 or 4 hours. She said it was her easiest labor and delivery.
Wishing you the best! Try not to stress about the things you cannot predict or control.
I was induced at 40+3 for low fluid. I think I was in super, super early labor when we started. I was given cedivil around 2:30ish on Monday. That made the contractions start in earnest. That evening (8 pmish?) I got the foley bulb (worst part of all of pregnancy and childbirth for me). I was contracting every 5ish minutes all night. Tuesday around noon they removed the foley bulb and I was significantly further dislated. Late Tuesday afternoon I got the epidural and pitocin. I started pushing around 10:30 pm Tuesday night and LO arrived ar 12:21 am on Wednesday morning. Induction was NOT what I wanted but honestly my birth experience was fine. LO and I were both healthy, I had some second degree tearing but an easy recovery overall.

Well...a doctor checked me this morning and decided we should do cervadil, though my other doctor had said we would go straight to pitocin. 2 doses later and I'm at 4cm, having some 5 minute contractions. We're hoping to start pitocin at 6 I think.
I was induced with DS and had cervadil(sp) the night before and it did nothing. I was barely dilated to a 1 the next morning. They gave me pitocin a little before 9am and the contractions came fast and strong. After a little bit I was maybe dilated to a 2, but was in so much pain. They gave me an epidural and within an hour I was dilated to an 8. Started pushing around 1230 and at 146 DS was born.
