Ok, since skylark is already in the process of her induction (hopefully baby is here!), I feel comfortable asking this.
Am I the only one on this board who had cervidil and it caused the baby's heart to slow to dangerous levels? I had it inserted and within an hour I had like 8 Drs and nurses in my room, them flipping me into weird positions and massaging the baby's head to try and revive his heart rate....with some IV drug to help (and obvious removal of the cervidil). They rushed me to a c section, but he came out of distress, so they stopped the process. Then the dr told me "This happens sometimes and we will keep a close watch." I'm giving her so much side eye right now!!! Doesn't sound so casually common.

It did not slow down baby's HR for me. It must be common enough for them to know it happens and they know what to do to reverse effects, but not common enough for them to not do it.

weeklyplanner they refused to give me cervadil or any cervical dilator for my induction because M was already showing minor heart rate decels with every contraction. Their main concern was that once you give a drug like that you can't "stop" it like you can with pitocin and they weren't willing to risk it. I don't remember them mentioning that it can also cause decels on it's own but that may have also been part of their rationale.

Well I'm super happy you did not share that story with me Saturday weeklyplanner! I had a really good experience with the cervadil. We did one dose at 11 and after 4 hours I had dilated to 4 cm. They gave me another dose and about an hour later I was in labor. No pitocin needed. Things progressed naturally, I got an epidural at 11 pm at 6cm, then had the baby at 2 am with only 10 pushes over 3 contractions. It was surprisingly similar to "real" labor, just moved a little faster. With Henry I was in active labor for 24 hours; this time was about 10 hours. My favorite doctor from our practice was on call over night and she delivered Annabelle.

Congratulations! She's beautiful!
(And,yes, I would have never shared that to someone heading into an induction. I'm glad you had an uneventful induction!)
