Because I continued to breastfeed past her transition to WCM at daycare, I think this has been much easier for us. At 12 months, she was never getting bottles at home (just nursing), and we sent her WCM in sippies to DC.
Her DC lady did ask that we send one bottle each day, so that she could take her nap-time WCM in a bottle. But we only did that for 2 months. then we just stopped sending it.
So, you may just have to tell your mom that she cannot give J bottles.
Question - her morning and bedtime bottles - are you giving her WCM, or toddler formula? Actually, maybe that question isn't even relevant.
I'd say that since the morning bottle is inconsistent anyway, drop that one first. And only offer sippy/straw cups. Once you've successfully transitioned from that one, work on the nighttime bottle.
If you are really concerned about dehydration, jsut be sure that you are giving her foods like fruits, or cucumbers, that are hydrating. Or pedialyte instead of water sometimes.
I am 100% positive that you are not the only mother in the world with a 17 month old still drinking from bottles. There's a 2yo at daycare who walks around drinking from his bottle.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm eventually going ot have to go through this same process... but replace "bottles" with "boobs"...
