Hi, I remember there being a thread about this a couple months back, but I can't find it:
Seriously, the worst time of my day is spent brushing her teeth. She won't let me do it without restraining her and forcing the toothbrush in her mouth. I've tried making it a game, singing to her, and letting her do it (accomplishes nothing). Any other suggestions? It's becoming traumatic for both of us.
I let A brush his teeth first, then while he still has his toothbrush I take a second one we got for him and get in to do a better job. He still doesn't like it, but it helps that I'm not actually taking the toothbrush away from him.
Nora likes to do it herself. I do it first, then she finishes. Maybe it's the flavor of toothpaste you're using? Or if you aren't using toothpaste, try it?
I let her "brush" first, but in order to do a good job I still have to basically sit on her and pin her arms down. If her arms are free, she frantically signs All Done.
We use a regular toothbrush that he picked out because it had Elmo on it.
Sensing a theme yet?
I have a friend here in town that has an A14 kid born a few days before mine and I sent her the video link because she said she was having trouble with her A14 kiddo. Not anymore. It may not work for all kids but it might help. Try it out!
We usually let DD hold her toothbrush first then try to get her to do the brushing motions. For a while she just wanted to suck the toothpaste/water off the brush and wouldn't let us help her. But H downloaded the Talking Ginger app on his phone for DD to play with during the day, and it also has a brushing teeth timer. We realized that if we play that timer, she'll try and copy the cat brushing it's teeth instead of just sucking on the end of the brush.
Sometimes I have to wait until she wails loud enough for me to get in there. Sometimes she's happy if I tip her completely upside down and I can get a little bit of brushing in that way. #extremes

LO loves this song! It's pretty catchy. We usually sing this song as well when we brush his teeth. Actually, we often sing it even when we aren't.

It's definitely one that gets stuck in your head. Sorry guys... it's a brain worm of a song but it really worked for us.
It's been a struggle here as well. Just in the past week or so, it has helped to let him hold the toothbrush and toothpaste and let him pretend to put toothpaste on the brush (he can't squeeze it hard enough to actually do it).
Then he's happy to "brush" his own teeth after that, and I follow to get the spots he missed.
