I mean this in the best way, but I am all "Aw, you guys are so adorable" at your comments. You guys have no clue what is coming with Negan. As bad as you think TWD has been in the past, it is going to get so much worse. Prepare your feels!
These last few episodes have been sticking to the comics pretty closely so none of this is surprising to me. It is basically the comic come to life and they are doing it so much justice, I love it.

Do you think they're going to stick with the storyline with regard to who Negan kills?
I do. Robert Kirkman has said that that is the one part that he was determined to keep.

I know basically nothing about the comics from this point on. I know about neagan's weapon and the death--but that's it. I didn't know about the Hilltop group at all until this episode.
It's cool having read them because I am prepared but at the same time, it's a bummer because I already know a lot of the plotlines. It is really awesome seeing it come alive though. The casting is on point.

I hope not.
Honestly, I do. It is going to suck and it will be devastating but it is so iconic that I feel it would do the show a huge injustice if they omit/alter it. It shapes so much of the characters and story that without it, IDK if it the show will keep the momentum.

so, then, comic reader... Maggie and the baby??? You can spoiler that info in case others don't wanna know. But I need to know how that goes in the comics....
{Comic book spoilers, click at your own risk} Maggie moves to Hilltop after Glenn dies. She overthrows Gregory after he refuses to step up and help with Negan and becomes the new leader. She has the baby. It is a boy whom she names Hershel. She becomes a fucking badass. Also, in the comics, Sophia does not die and Maggie adopted her so she has Hershel and Sophia that she takes care of by herself like a boss.

Enid seems to be substitute Sophia in this case.
That's what I have been thinking. I didn't read the comics but I have read a lot about them so I'm familiar with a lot of the story lines in them and the moment they put Glenn and Enid in a situation together, I thought she would take the Sophia role.
MH and I were surprised they sent all those people to meet with Jesus' group because that would leave Alexandria so vulnerable. But then we thought "They still have Carol. They'll be fine." We were also convinced that Abraham was going to die last night because there was so much focus on him. I was pleasantly surprised he survived to the end, though I still have a feeling he's not going to make it to next season.

I never made that connection until you said it. That would make so much sense.
I feel like maybe they sent all their heavy hitters with Jesus for two reasons : 1) The Alexandrians only just started not being pussies. If anything were to go wrong, I don't feel like Rick trusted that they would react quickly enough. Rick's group has dealt with much more from different groups so they know more about what can go wrong, what to do, etc. 2)The Alexandrians did pretty well defending their turf so if anything were to happen in Alexandria, they'd be better equipped to deal with it as opposed to being outside the walls. Also, Carol.

I almost think they are setting Abraham up to take over what should happen to Glen, but it seems like the easy way out & not staying true to the comics.

{Spoiler-ish} Just the fact that Andrew Lincoln said that reading the script for the finale made him sick to his stomach and Lauren Cohan said it was the hardest day she has ever had on set makes me believe that it will be a bigger character death. I like Abraham but I don't think his death would have the impact that death of one of the original (with Maggie included) cast members would have. Last night Jesus said that Negan killed Rory from his group just to make a point and noted that he was only 16 years old. That makes me wonder if it was a way to show that he'll kill anyone, including a pregnant woman (Maggie) or a kid (Carl). I actually think they could have a bit of a problem with the character of Carl because Chandler Riggs is aging a lot faster than Carl should be. This could be an "easy" way to take care of that problem.

I agree, I don't think they'd take out Carl, especially since his relationship with Negan later on is pretty important to both of their progressions as characters. I truly believe it will be Glen, like in the comic. That would hit home for Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohen, since as PP said, he is one of the last remaining from the original Atlanta group. Since most of the cast has not read the comics, I believe finding out Glen's fate was probably quite sickening, as well as a shock.
We just watched! I thought this was a good episode overall. Rick always seems to make the best first impressions... haha
It's funny how so many of you guys don't trust Jesus. They are totally making him look more shady than he actually is! He's a good guy!
I'm honestly dreading the Negan stuff. It's hard to watch Rick's group be so optimistic saying things like "we're going to fight them, and we're going to win." The brutal Negan killing was the reason I stopped reading the comics, and I'm not looking forward to seeing it on the show.
No it's fine. I like to read them and see what's happened from people who read the comics. If people regret reading it, it's on them. You put it behind a spoiler.
I clicked the spoiler. I'm okay with all that, and I think they're setting it up really well. Also, unrelated, but the dialogue written for Abraham was terrrrrrrrible in this episode.
Abraham's dialogue is always terrible. I can't stand him and hope his death comes sooner rather than later.
He's actually pretty cool in the comics, he is one of the characters that didn't translate well to the show.
