Let her dictate the time. The current school you're at should understand what's usually the best time for interviews and will understand that you need to leave for those interviews. At least, I would hope that they would understand that.

You sound like you want your current job aware that you are interviewing elsewhere and thinking of leaving. Nothing says "I have an interview" like showing up to school all dressed up and taking half a day. Give the school grapevine a few days and everyone will know you had somewhere else important to be.
And yeah, end of the school day is hectic, people are grumpy, and no one is in the mood to stay later. Been there, done that.
This coming from someone that told a new job department head that said I could only do after school.... (to be fair, it would screw with my pay if I took a day off. Stupid subbing)

Just popping in to say good luck! It's tough out there to get hired-At least where I am, so that's awesome that you have heard back from a few places already!
How do I even go about wording an email to my boss about leaving work to observe a new workplaceLOL
Or do I even tell him?
Lurking (K teacher): If it's as personal day you don't need to give a reason usually. When I was long term subbing I just told my principal. If you don't have a guaranteed position next year then of course you have to interview. Good luck! Job hunting always sucks and in teaching the hiring window is so short.
W This. You do not have to give a reason for a personal day. They understand that even if you are a temporary position you will need a day here and there.
