Dh is leaving tomorrow for another 5 days (season is almost done!). It's my fur baby's birthday Sunday so we're going to celebrate her today while dh is home. We take her to a fancy pet store and let her pick a new toy. She slept on my legs last night so i can't say I'm happy with her. Doesn't she know I'm already uncomfortable without her added weight? Someone might be kicked off the bed tonight. Happy Friday!
Happy birthday to your fur baby mladerri. I'm kind of annoyed with my dog too. I've been sleeping on the couch recliner at night because heartburn and my dog has been sleeping next to me. His breathing and moving at night is driving me crazy. He kind of snores and he sighs a lot during the night. The past couple of nights he's also been trying to lay on his back. He's more than 100 pounds and nowhere near limber or coordinated enough to lay on his back on the couch without falling off. He actually kind of reminds me of myself when he tries to do it!
I'm so glad it's Friday! This week has felt extra long.
DH either forgot to turn on his alarm or turned it off in his sleep - he woke up late and was a huge cranky pants about it. Not my fault, dude.
Today DD has gymnastics and then we're having lunch with a friend I haven't seen since the fall, looking forward to it. Tomorrow morning Dh's parents flight is supposed to arrive - they've been on a cruise for 3 weeks. I think we're going to have supper with them Saturday night.
I'm really, really hoping we go paint shopping for the nursery this weekend!
I woke up with my fifth migraine in three weeks. Sex didn't fix it, coffee didn't fix it. Sitting under fluorescent lights certainly isn't fixing it. I just want to go home, crawl into bed and cry.
I feel guilty taking more sick time after my trifecta of illness in January and I know that even if I go home, it won't be restful because DS will just want to play. My students are driving me up the wall with helplessness - at 18 you should be able to remember your homework.
TL;DR - nitecheese is in a bad mood and has a headache and is whining.
DH is leaving for a guy's weekend trip to Pittsburgh right after work today, so I'll probably get to see him for about 10 min before he takes off. Usually I don't mind when he's gone too much, but he had to work late the last two nights, so it feels like it's way too long and I already miss him. Ok, hormones, calm yourselves.
I think the dog and I are going to make the trip up to see my parents and grandma this weekend while he's gone. That should be nice.
I am starting a long work stretch. I start today and don't end till next Friday night. It's my own fault trying to get in all my clinical hours but I am going to be hurting next week for sure.

Anyone else going gray in their pregnancy? Previously I had the odd one or two white hairs, but the past few days I've suddenly noticed I have TONS of white hairs, all at the top/front of my head, near my part. My hair is light-colored and very fine, so it's hard to see them, but there are DOZENS. Granted, I am in my late 30s so it shouldn't be unexpected, but I have heard of this happening due to pregnancy.
Also, I ate Thai food for breakfast. A bit of a strange choice, but it was so delicious!

Freckles - pregnancy makes my hair do the weirdest stuff!! I get a these random dark stand-up course jet black hairs. Its so odd.
I took today off to go maternity clothes and baby shopping with my mom. I need time to do this but have mommy guilt for taking DD to daycare for the day instead of bringing her with - even though I know she'd be antsy and today would be unproductive.
Morning ladies. Very glad it's Friday...this week was such a drag.
My inlaws are coming Saturday....I could do without that, but at least we don't have to go to them like we always do. They are so weird and won't just come and sit in our apartment and play with our daughter...it's like they are so uncomfortable at our house or something. My parents were like that too until we had a kid...now they make themselves right at home as they should!
I do get to have a play date with 2 moms and some little girls DD has made friends with on Sunday. I'm excited for that because I never get to do those kinds of things.

Yes. Luckily most of them are the underlayer and haven't poked through. DS gave me a handful, baby girl is giving me a handful more. I'm not ready!
frecklesnbrains yes! So many! I'm in my early 30s and I dye my hair dark. I had to dye my hair yesterday because I found at least 20. I know I shouldn't be dying my hair but I probably shouldn't be eating deli meat either. Demi meat makes my belly happy and dying my hair makes my soul happy. And Thai food was a great choice.
Flair Underwood what a fabulous idea. I hope you find lots of things for yourself and baby. Don't feel guilty. Shopping with a toddler is an adventure in itself. Enjoy your me time. nymama917 my ils never visit. They have only been here twice since ds was born. He is 2 1/2. My parents come all the time which is probably my preference anyway. Happy play date! bighair12 good luck this next week! nitecheese feel better soon

mladerri, meh, everything I've read says dying your hair in pregnancy is fine. I also eat tons of deli meat.
Glad I'm not alone in the gray hair department! I could probably put some blonde highlights in mine and it would cover them up. They're still really difficult to notice bu at this rate that may be necessary by delivery!
frecklesnbrains I have way more gray hair in pregnancy. Along with a terrible amount of dandruff. Anyone else have dermatitis? I have red patches all over!
Morning! I'm so happy its finally Friday! We had our annual work conference this week and I was on my feet talking to people for 2.5 extremely long days. I cannot wait to rest this weekend!
bighair12, I have developed red patches... I lotion like crazy, but nothing is helping. Also, I have never had dandruff before and it's been cropping up. I usually am happy with my hair, but lately it has been really bad.
Also to add to the inappropriate comment discussion that I was just catching up on, I had two older men at the conference tell me to make sure not to "get too fat" and ask if I was having twins. Made me feel super confident as I was trying to market our business. :/

titania, my boss (who is a 70+ year-old doctor and mother of three) warned me that it was good to "only gain 10-15 pounds max" during pregnancy. I actually laughed in her face!

Oh my. That also deserves a GIANT eyeroll. These were old Navy men and apparently back in the day if you were a pregnant military wife they would put you on a really strict weight gain schedule and if you went over it they monitored super closely (and yelled at you) until you got back on track. My coworker told me that his mom was constantly being yelled at for her weight gain until the Navy docs finally realized she was having twins!
I don't know what it's called, but last pregnancy I developed one of those white hair streaks.
A forelock? Like this?
There's actually a biological reason for why this happens that is kinda cool. During early embryonic development melanocytes (which are the cells that make pigment) migrate from the developing brain and spinal cord through the skin and around to the front of our body. This region on our foreheads and the midline of our scalp is the point where the cells have to migrate the furthest, so the skin and hair follicles there have a lower concentration of melanocytes than the rest of our bodies. As we age, our melanocytes gradually die off, which is what causes gray hair. This happens more rapidly in regions where there were fewer melanocytes to begin with. There are also genetic disorders which affect the melanocytes and can cause a baby to be born with a white forelock - that just means the cells never made it there at all in the first place.
My new white hairs are all in this region of my scalp.
Flair Underwood have fun and just remember DD would much rather be at school than watching you shop. I always have that mommy guilt when I bring DS to daycare when I'm not working or if I leave early and I do things before picking him up. I have to remind myself they are doing fun age appropriate things and he'd much rather be playing than shopping and I'd much rather shop without him crying or running around or being bored.

frecklesnbrains, yes, like that, although much smaller thus far. Yours looks great. Mine is too small to be stylish. I have zero gray hair on my head, except for that little patch in front. It didn't exist before my pregnancy with DS. So while I appreciate your scientific explanation, I fully intend to continue to blame him for it. I might even start keeping an itemized list of my bills for coloring it so that I can charge DS when he's old enough to work a la the asshole dad from the Parenting post this past week.
At least DH has vitilago, which has caused him to have several white hair patches on his head. He tried to tease me about my streak once, and I shut that down!

ohiorideresq, fyi that was just a stock photo from Google - it's not me! I'm not that gray yet. I'm also a redhead.
I think you can still blame your DS It's well known that "stress" can also accelerate graying and other signs of aging (wrinkles, cognitive decline, etc), and we ALL know that pregnancy is stressful!

Why can't my sleep ever align with when I actually need to get up, was awake at 5:15 this morning and still had 90 min left of potential sleep. I'm so glad it's Friday but I have a lot of work to do today.
I usually do the weekday morning routine with DS since DH leaves for work really early but I swear on the days he is around in the morning DS is so whiny and uncooperative, I can't tell if I'm just imagining it but it drives me insane. DH is very helpful in getting DS ready but it's almost not worth having to listen to the extra whining first thing in the morning.
I just got an invitation for a destination wedding in Jamaica for next summer. I don't really have a desire to travel to Jamaica but after this morning I'm considering going by myself.
I took a shower yesterday, and actually shaved my legs (!) but realized I have some pretty bad varicose veins behind my knee. Awesome. They actually kind of hurt. This pregnancy is kicking my ass.

I totally agree with this! Flair Underwood you shouldn't feel guilty. We all need adult time to recharge. It's not really fair to expect any parent to never have time to themselves. Enjoy your day! You'll be a better mom this evening because of it.
