Wondering if anyone here experienced prodromal labor with their A14 baby or any previous/subsequent pregnancies. I had 15 hours of timeable contractions 6 minutes apart on Thursday that fizzled out and I have been contracting inconsistently ever since. It is draining and exhausting and googling birth stories is not helpful, it mostly has me nervous this will turn into transition labor very quickly and I'll end up with a car baby :-P I welcome any tips or experiences.
It sounds to me like the baby is struggling to get into the position it needs. My suggestion would be to get on your hands and knees for a while. If you have a deep tub, hands and knees in water is even better. Downward facing dog may be a good idea too, if they are already low and struggling with position...then they can move up a bit to get the room needed to shift position.
As for the car concern, I'm not much help as I never got into a car. If I was worried about a car delivery, I'd pack an essentials bag and then try to forget about it. Cover your seat with a chucks pad. Buy a few depends or other adult diaper, pack some towels and warm blankets for you and the baby. Include a large bowl or maybe zip lock bag for the placenta. I wouldn't worry about cutting the cord in the car. Also, if you do a search on line there is a digital version of the emergency delivery instructions they give to first responders. Reading that might help you and your SO feel more prepared, just in case.
Yes, I had regular contractions pretty much every night from 36 weeks on with both kids. My labors are pretty slow and I live really close to the hospital, so I never worried about getting to the hospital in time. How was your first? For me, even really painful contractions only dilated about 1 cm per hour/ 90 minutes.

Yes, I had it for 4 nights straight with DD2. My contractions don't do timetable patters (my weird uterus is the reason I have emergency c-sections), but I was in early labor all night and then it would fizzle. DD2 was sunny side up and often half way to transverse. I had extra fluid and ignored much of the baby positioning guidelines and ended up paying for it with all that prodromal labor. One of my friends has had good success with swimming for fixing baby positioning.
Yes, I had it for about a month before LO arrived. The contractions always fizzled out by the morning. It seemed for me, I didn't have as many if I got enough sleep, though maybe it was just being able to handle it better. I thought for sure LO would arrive early but he was born 40+2.
Swimming did take some weight off my belly and back and so that's a great idea. I always felt better after. LO was in perfect position for weeks but ended up turning sunny side up during active labor so I can't say that the swimming helped at all with positioning, though it can't hurt.

Thank you for the advice all! I apparently reverse jinxed myself - Corinne Melody was born around noon today just 3 short hours after we got to the hospital. Barely managed to squeeze the epi in - next time I may not be so lucky :-P
