I was scheduled to induce at 5:30 this morning but got bumped shortly before. They finally got me in about noon and got everything started at one.
I was so excited to get the nurse that helped deliver DD. She was amazing.
Contractions picked up really quickly but I still wasn't dilating past a 3. They called for an epidural and got one at about 3 o'clock.
Epidural didn't work. I could still feel extremely painful contractions on half of my belly. They weren't going away. They called the anesthesiologist and he basically just cranked up my meds to try and make the pain go away. After about an hour, It worked. Yay!
The nurse came in to check my progression shortly after I lost all my feeling. I was excited because she said this would help determine when he would get here. The next thing I know, she's saying she needs to call the doctor because I'm about to deliver.
She has me give a couple pushes to see what's gong on. And then I realized I couldn't push. I was so numb, I couldn't feel where or what I was pushing. So back comes the anesthesiologist to turn my meds back down. I gained a lot of the feeling back in one of my legs and some of my vaginal region.
And then they had me cross my legs because they were still waiting on my doctor. We could see her out the window (from the 6th floor) running across the parking lot.
I pushed a couple times and got his head out. And his cord was wrapped around his neck. Doctor got it unwrapped quickly and baby had a small gasp and we all felt better. The rest of delivery went well even though I could feel some of it.
I had about a 5 hour labor and also had absolutely no tearing. Woo hoo!
Big sister is not sure how she feels about the whole thing. I think the hospital scared her more than anything.
Thank you for reading my crazy rambling post.
