I haven't donated because I never had extra, but would love to if I produce more this time.
We received a bottle of donated milk at discharge from the hospital because DS had lost too much weight and my milk hadn't come in. It was such a godsend and there was such a difference in DS as soon as he started it. I am so thankful to whoever donated it.
No experience but I googled "donor milk banks (city name)" and it popped up with several here in the city. Maybe start there and see if you can find reviews/ philosophies of each one you find to decide where you want to give?

Any friend of a friend type situations? I had extra milk due to food sensitivities and gave it to my nephew. At first sil said "Oh I don't think we will need it," but then a few weeks in she said they were using it once a day for a bottle.
Oddly enough, twice my mom has asked me if I still have extra for two different friend's of hers new grand babies. I guess they've become their own little BM network, lol.

I've donated in 2 different ways. I did what cdseno suggested and used human milk for human babies. I also donated to 2 friends who were having trouble producing.

I've donated a couple times. Once was to a friend of a friend and another time was through my local hospital. A mom had reached out to their lactation consultant and I asked if they needed any. She took all I had.
Just noticed this thread I donated a bunch to my local milk bank which I found through mothersmilk.org they even had a free shipping option if you couldn't donate in person or were not local to a bank. I also had a lady offer to come and pick it up from me from the organization. I did have to have some blood testing done at no cost to me to be an approved donor.

Long Island is like a hundred years behind with milk banks and hospital donors. So, I gave my extra pumped to Human Milk for Human Babies. Just went through their facebook page.
I also used Human Milk for Human Babies. Each state has a facebook page that you can get added to. Even if you're in a rural area, there might be a mom near you who needs BM. I posted on mine and found 2 people who needed BM for their babies that I donated to when I had extra milk last summer. One met me near my work and the other met me at home.
