Is this a standard thing? (TY cards?) I have never given out thank you cards after a birthday. Am I adulting wrong?
I write out thank you notes for all gifts all the time. I don't know if that's something a lot of people do.
Huh. I don't think I've ever received a thank you note other than for wedding and shower gifts/attendance. I always just thank the person at the time. Maybe this is regional? Or maybe I'm just a terrible human lol

I have received a few thank you notes but I have never sent them myself. However, I have also never had a occasion to send out a thank you note since we don't really do big birthday parties and we never had a baby or wedding shower. I suppose I might send a thank you note in one of those circumstances if they arose.

Not sure. MH and I were both raised doing it, and we've stopped giving generous gifts to people who don't actually write personalized thank you cards. Sooooo... Maybe we're terrible human beings? Haha.

It's just what you are taught in a family. lol
Mine doesn't send out thank you notes. DH's sends out thank you notes but we now get away with not sending one to his sister(she doesn't send one to us any longer either. lol)
I actually had to ask DH if we had to send a thank you note for sympathy stuff. lol
I loathe the thank you note. I was taught to send them for occasions in which you don't open presents in front of the gift giver. So for DS's second birthday we took the unopened gifts home with us. We are writing thank you notes this week.
Whenever I get them I read them and immediately throw them out. I hate clutter and DH thinks I should save them for a week or so
I was taught to always write a thank you note. I don't get offended if I don't get them from others though (especially if I got a verbal thank you/acknowledgement). I will teach DD to write them though.
+1 for being a terrible human for hating thank you notes. I hate writing thank you notes so much I'd just rather not get gifts. It's partially because my MIL will actually ask her relatives of they've gotten a thank you note from me a week after an event, then harass me about it. Omg woman, chill out and give me 2.5 weeks at least.
Unsolicited advice for FTMs.... as much as you don't want to do it, write all the TY notes you can before the baby is born. It will be even harder afterwards. I wrote nearly 100 and it felt like this awful stressful chore that wouldn't end when I was already exhausted with a newborn.

I've been pushing away from formal thank you notes for family and birthdays. I'm tired and few people send them but my grandmother-in-law sends a typed note for any gift. Like if we come to dinner and bring a store bouquet, I get a note in the mail. It's exhausting!
I always hand write them for showers, our wedding, etc. but I've been thanking people in Facebook messenger/by text for things like birthday or Christmas gifts.
Anyway, I'm still exhausted from my long day at the consignment sale then a painting shift last night. I was on the go and on my feet from 7 am to 9 pm. Three of my coworkers didn't know I was pregnant! It's so funny because I feel so huge but they had never noticed my 7 inches wider belly (measured my waist this week) under my apron. So it was fun to chat baby with them.
Today is a blessed nothing day but I need to clean and prep for the week. My free maid has *still* not arrived.
We finished touching up the pictures we took yesterday and I'm so happy with how well they came out. We have a birthday party to go to today that I'm dreading because I hate 90% of the people who will be there.
How is everyone with littles doing today? DST always kicks our ass, no matter which way we turn the clocks. DS didn't go down for his nap until 1 and promptly woke up screaming 45 minutes later. He went back to sleep but we are so screwed for bedtime!
Bedtime will suck. My daughter is at my mom's today so I can get some rest. But she goes to bed at 7 and it'll now be daylight at bedtime. We have blinds and PBK blackout curtains but It's still really bright in her room at bedtime. Ugh.

Usually DS does fine with the clock changes. But it's a bit after 1, and he's upstairs just crying despite me going up there a bunch. Not thinking a nap is going to happen today. Hopefully that will mean easy-ish to bed, and then we'll be back on track tomorrow. I wish we just stayed at DST all year round. Changing the clocks seems so pointless and just cruel to everyone with children.
We ended up going to Babies R Us. I wanted to see if they had a few things in stock that were on sale on line. Sadly not. oh well. Of course we did not leave empty handed.

DS was a mess this morning, not sure if it's because of his cold or daylight savings. Managed to get him down for a 2.5 hour nap around the regular time. Not sure how tonight will go.
This makes me laugh; for some reason DS has started calling doughnuts "fomo". I guess it makes sense, I would have FOMO if people around me were eating doughnuts and I wasn't!

Ds stayed with my mom last night. He slept in til 930 and went down for a nap at 2......an hour later than normal. But he only slept 2 hours, so there is hope at bedtime! Haha
I had 3 people tell me yesterday they could tell if gained weight in my face or my face looked fuller etc. wtf family? I don't care if I'm pregnant, not a license to tell me my face is fat apparently.
I'm jealous of all the awesome sleepers. I've come to terms with the fact my son sucks at sleeping, despite having a good bedtime routine, no sleep associations, and a full belly.
I guess bedtime wasn't so horrible. He usually goes down around 7:00-7:30 and its 8:11 now and he's asleep. FX he stays that way !

It takes us a while to get DS down but once he's out he's a good sleeper. DD Ioves to sleep and gets annoyed if DS wakes her up. Not sure why I though a newborn was a good idea when they will get up and make themselves cereal and turn on Netflix on Saturday mornings and let H and I stay in bed. Maybe we'll get back to this in 4 years.

My mom told me this too. She followed up quickly with a "it's okay, it's supposed to happen!" when she saw the look on my face. Thanks, Mom!
