Colicky babies are exhausting

My son was pretty colicky from about 2 weeks to 7 weeks. I was hoping for an easier newborn this time around, but no such luck. 7-11 she is inconsolable. We have tried everything except eliminating dairy (didn't work with my son). I've pretty much resigned myself to just accepting it as a phase that we have to get through. I'm going to discuss it at her 1 month check up, but I'm not expecting any real solutions. Anyone else in this boat that can commiserate? No real point to this other than to complain

I'm sorry. DD1 was extremely colicky and it was exhausting, emotionally and physically.

DD2 will be 2 weeks tomorrow and so far she's a chill baby but I feel like I'm just waiting for the shit to hit the fan soon. (Hopefully not!)

We are dealing with the same thing. Our pediatrician told us it is mostly neurological and they get overstimulated. Some babies don't know how to handle it. She's not screaming every night, just most.

I'm not there, but my brother was with my niece. It totally sucks and you do the best you can to get through it (as you know). It won't be forever.

For me it is honestly easier to deal with when I just accept it and stop trying so hard to fix it. I run through the general checklist- fed, clean diaper, not too hot, not too cold, different position, etc and then just put her in the wrap and walk/sway/ bounce around with some white noise playing on my phone. Wine helps

Raises hand!!! DS was colicky and I thought I would get a free pass with this one. No such luck. 4-7 everyday. By the time my husband gets home I just hand her to him and go take a shower.
Poor DS gets irratated by this too because all you can do is hold them and let them cry. So DS gets to watch lots of tv at this time frame.

We were at the doctor this am and she mentioned the dreaded "C" word. Oh gosh I hope not. She did mention that some people have found relief with baby probiotics like Bio Gaia. It might be worth a try if this new crying phase continues.

Unfortunately we are dealing with this at our house, too. My girl seems to have colic on top of the reflux we are already treating. She screams from 5-8, and then again has a rough patch from 11-2(pm to am). I have three other kids who are school age and need my help during that first period of crying. Like PP said, I run the check list of baby needs and then I put her in my ergo and walk (and walk...and walk). I had some success with gripe water when my first DD had colic but it doesn't seem to be helping this time. This kiddo does like white noise tho, so running the vacuum or the shower seems to help a bit. Good luck to all of us. The good news is that it doesn't last forever.

DS2 had terrible colic. He cried 24hrs a day, even waking up every hour at night to scream his head off. If he wasn't eating or sleeping (which he rarely did), he was screaming. If I knew he was fed and dry, I just bounced with him and patted his back. When I knew I was doing what I could, it really didn't bother my too much. DH had the worst time with his crying. DS2 is actually why I became a SAHM. I went back to work for 3 days when DH called me frantically telling me to put in my notice right then. He just couldn't take the round-the-clock crying. It's awful, but it does pass!! DS2 was over it by around 4mths, and I think with most babies it only lasts until 3mths. Good luck and don't feel bad if you need to set baby down (in a crib or swing or something like that)and walk away. You need to keep your sanity, too!!!

You can get a white noise app for your phone. Variety of sounds and portable and you can do other things on your phone while playing it.
