Biography/Autobiography Recommendations

I love reading biographies, autobiographies and memoirs but I feel like there are so many crappy ones out there that it can be hard to wade through.  What are some that you've read (or are wanting to read) and would recommend?  A few of my favorites are:


Knock Wood by Candice Bergen (She's a funny writer and it talks about growing up in Hollywood as the daughter of a famous entertainer and then her own entry into acting.)

Team of Rivals, by Dolores Kearns Goodwin  (Abe Lincoln and his cabinet)

Heartburn, by Nora Ephron (memoir about her divorce from Carl Bernstein)

Marie Antoinette, by Antonia Fraser

Life, by Keith Richards

I loved Alice Sebold's 'Lucky' - it was about her rape so it can be triggering to some. Having been a survivor myself though I found it validating. It's a quick read.

Thanks all! Destiny of the Republic is at my library, so I'm going to pick it up this weekend. I added many of these to my list!

I think it was called Scar Tissue but it was the Autobiography of Anthony Kaedis from Red hot chili peppers. It was a pretty good one if you want something about music. I don't read a lot of biographies but I enjoyed this one. I also really enjoyed Marie Antoinette.
