I've been stalking for several days and guess I'll finally intro so I can jump in the fun! Found out last Wednesday, I'm pregnant. Surprised but very excited! This Will be #4 for us. We started our family by adopting siblings (7 & 6 this summer), have a biological son who will be exactly 3 1/2 when this baby (hopefully) is born around November 14th. My DH was gone on a trip when I found out. He left the day I was suppose to start. Last time we had talked about AF not coming and what if I was pregnant? This time, I didn't say anything to him and after a couple BFP tests, I made him a note with painted baby feet, and the positive test there and surprised him. It was SO fun! I was hesitant to not take the test together again but in the end the shocked look on his face and his excitement was so special! Looking forward to getting to know you all better! Hoping and praying for a healthy 9 months for all of us!
Welcome and congrats! That's a sweet story about surprising your husband - I always hoped to do something like that, but I just blurted it out both times lol
calindi that was me with DH both times...this time around, I called him on his way to work and just awkwardly laughed/snorted, "I'm pregnant!" Such a sweet moment
If you don't mind my asking, how have your adoptive children taken the baby? We had 2 foster kids when I got pregnant the first time around. One of them took it really well but the other not so much, and we (us/social workers/etc) had to make the decision when my son was 6 months old to end the placement due to everyone's safety. Anyway we are in the midst of the adoption process now (will have to put it on hold now I guess) but just wondering how you found the dynamics of it all.
It went really well! We had our older two for a year and a half befor our third (first bio) was born. The children seemed to adapt quite well. However, our baby was super happy and easy going so that realllllly helped! I remember being stressed at first but after several weeks it was so much better. We were already in the adoption process so we were very committed and thankfully it all worked out.
Hope things go well for you. I'm a huge believer in adoption!!
