Night/Sleeping

How are your S13ers sleeping these days? What is bedtime and wake up like? Everybody in big kid beds?

DD#1 is not a morning toddler at all. She rolls over and tells me "Go away Mama, go away" or she'll pat the bed next to her and say "lay down, lay down", and sometimes even puts one of her pillows to the side and say "Here a piddow, lay down". She might not like getting up, but she is really good about going to bed when it's bed time, even if she isn't tired. She will just play and sing to herself, but stay in bed until she falls asleep.

G has been in a twin bed for about a year now. She was always a terrible sleeper (up every 2-3 hours till 1 year), but once we switched to the big bed, she has done awesomely! She gets excited for bedtime now, we read a couple of books, sing songs, and talk about our day before saying good night. She goes down around 7/7:30 and wakes up around 6:30am. She normally wakes up happy and ready to go!

DD1 is and always has been an awesome sleeper. We were really lucky, but karma got us with the second child.

We've been in a big kid bed for about 2 months now. We held off for quite awhile because she loved her crib and I was totally okay with keeping her confined as long as possible!

She goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up around 7:30 but plays in her room for a bit while I make breakfast and nurse DD2, which is nice.

DD has been in a twin bed since December and she is doing awesome with it! She does fight going to sleep a bit (says she doesn't want to go, likes to try to run away when getting into pajamas or when brushing teeth, and will dance around her room instead of getting up into bed) but once she's in there she is fine. We read a few books and rub her back for less then a minute and she'll go to sleep on her own when she is tired. Bedtime is bewteen 8 and 9 depending on what we are doing or how tired she is and she is usually asleep by 930 or so. She will sleep til about 830 or 9 and when she wakes up she will stay in bed and play with her stuffed animals/read books til we come get her (usually 30-45 minutes). She does still nap, usually around 230 and I wake her up by 430 if she's still sleeping. When I have to wake her up she can sometimes wake up in a bad mood so I try to make sure she has enough time to get a good nap in and be awake on her own by 430. DD sleeps through the night with the exception of when she is sick or is having a nightmare etc.

Still in cribs here, but looking to transition them in the next couple of months. (They've each had a couple of escapes, but very sporadic, and I'm kind of terrified of the transition. Terrified that they will play all night and not sleep.) They love having their teeth brushed before bed, then a diaper change (working on potty training, but it's slow), and then a story or three.

Luckily, they're great sleepers. They are in bed by 9ish (sometimes they immediately go down, sometimes they chat for a while, some nights I'm going in their room at 11, begging them to sleep). They wake up between 8 and 9am. They rarely wake during the night, but if they do, it's usually a cry for a hug, kiss, or to have their soother on or to fix their blanket. If one or both do wake, they will (usually) immediately go back to sleep once I check on them.

Naps are a mixed bag. Some days we sleep from 2:30-5:30 with no fuss, some days we do not sleep at all.

In the mornings, I usually get woken up hearing them laughing, chatting, or singing to each other. So that's always nice.

He still sleeps in the bed with us.. ;-/.. Bad I know.. He will sometimes nap in his toddler bed.

ETA: he is usually down by 10-10:30..his brother sometimes keeps him awake. They both sleep until 9-9:30

Bed time hasn't been that much fun since switching to a twin bed after Christmas. I probably would have kept in the crib longer if her sister wasn't on the way (M16) currently we just got her back to sleeping in her bed instead of ours. She was doing OK but it's only been one week so she is still testing us and wanting out bed some nights ( we are staying strong). Bath at 7:30, books and bedtime are after. We currently stay in the room until she falls asleep ( some days are easier than others). We have the bed habit of letting her have some milk or water with a splash of juice before bed we need to break this habit because it's bad for her teeth and potty training. But I can only break one habit at a time so I'll worry about this at a later date. Some nights she spends all night in her bed and some night ( around 4) she comes into our bed and finished up the night there. She was an average/decent sleeper as a baby - I'll be glad when toddler years are over lol

Still in a crib over here but sleeps like a log 90% of the time so I'm not switching until closer to age 3. We eat dinner, play for 30 minutes, brush teeth/Jammies and then read 3 books. She's content afterwards to fall asleep on her own (around 8:15) and wakes between 6:30-8am, depending on our work schedule. Little sister sometimes is noisy at night and wakes her up, but I can usually shush both of them back to sleep through the monitor. She still naps for 2-2.5 hrs in the afternoon.

He has been waking up in the middle of the night though. It started when he was sick and would need meds or water and now he's just in the habit. Every time we get him sleeping through the night again, he gets sick and the whole thing starts over. The nice thing is that he understands when we say "You're a big boy--we're not coming up unless we know you really need something."

Morning wake ups are pretty good, but nap time wake ups can be horrible. He is just not himself. Nothing I do is right and he can't tell me what is wrong. He wakes up and comes out of his room on his own. I don't know what it is but if anyone has any suggestions...

We get the "night terrors" at nap time a few times a week too. They are horrible! I plop her in front of the TV with her favorite show of the week, a juice box and a snack I know she likes and she seems to work herself out of it within 10 minutes or so.

(That makes me sound like a horrible mom, but I'm sure you know there's absolutely no consoling you can do when they are in that state)
