We did a crib/changer combo and loved it with DS (reusing it again) but it's been discontinued. It converts to a full or queen bed with a side table afterwards but I doubt we'll ever use it for that. It's the DaVinci Kalani. A lot of people get the Hemnes dresser from Ikea and put a contoured changing pad on top. We have one in our room and it would be perfect. There are a few different sizes available.
I am glad you mentioned the Hemnes dresser. I wondered how the colors matched. Do they look similar? I know it will bother me if the colors are off. I've been looking at a Davinci crib.
I have the three drawer hemnes and the Jenny Lind davinci in this baby's room. It looks good (to me).

As far as changing table, we used a dresser with a changing pad. But I actually found it so much easier to just do changes on the floor so we almost never used it. Don't know if I'll even bither with one for this baby. My kid has hated laying still since about the second she came out of the womb, so changes can be a struggle and I found wrestling a wiggly baby easier on the floor
I used a dresser with changing pad on top, but I secured the changing pad with Velcro strips I bought from Amazon. This was ds's nursery.
I am looking for a comfy chair like that. I already have a glider that I will use with the new baby but I want a comfy chair to use for storytime with DS.
microworm we found ours on Craigslist. It takes up a lot of room but dh and I have both slept in it many of nights. I love that the back is squishy like a pillow but I wish the back was higher while breastfeeding.
These ideas are great. I didn't get a changing table, so I will do like some of you did and place a changing pad on the dresser with some sort of non-slip pad underneath. I don't think I realized how long the baby stays in the parents' room until I read this thread. We've done so much getting the nursery together and it sounds like it won't be used until 6-12 months after she is born!
Our nursery is almost complete. We ended up painting the room Sherwin Williams' "Mindful Gray" as suggested by one of you ladies (I think it was sandandsea but I'm not sure). We have the crib and dresser. The pictures and bookshelves are supposed to go up today (if my procrastinating DH ever gets around to it). I'll post a picture once it's all up. My MIL is coming over tomorrow so I wanted everything hung in advance of her visit, sine she rarely comes over. If she doesn't see it tomorrow, it could be a year or more before she comes back. She only lives across town, but she doesn't drive and she's afraid of dogs (we have a dog) so we've always gone to her house instead of picking her up and bringing her to ours. In 8 years at our old place she only came over twice.
bgkc4 FWIW I transitioned my DS to his nursery/crib when I went back to work at 12 weeks. That was when he started STTN. I was lucky and hope to have another good sleeper!
bgkc4 - we transitioned dd1 to her crib around 16 weeks. I would have done it sooner (she was so noisy!) but DH was too anxious to have her leave "when she's just a tiiiiiiny baby!" Lol.
bgkc4 I think it's a really personal decision, many of my friends have moved their babies into their own rooms at 3-4 weeks, and I know others who have co-slept with baby in their room until much later. I would have moved DS earlier but we had to wait until 10 weeks or so until he was cleared for not having a disease he tested positive for at his newborn screen. I am guessing we will move this one earlier, but obviously it all depends on circumstances. She'll probably sleep in a pack n' play in DS' toddler room if DS is still in the crib then.
All I can think is choking hazards. Stupidly impractical.
Yes... it's very cute and detail-oriented, but when I got to the bookcase, I was a bit baffled for this reason. And it looks like a museum.
Yeah the bookcase is was got me too. The whole room is super awesome looking and very cool, but I have to wonder what they were thinking in terms of practicality. My guess is a lot of this stuff is just for show and they'll get rid of it when the baby comes.

Thanks! I found it on etsy and loved it. We had to go find a special earthquake safe hanger for it but it was pretty easy to hang and is very secure. We were worried about it being heavy and falling!

Yep. Mindful gray was me! Most of our house is that color including the nursery. . Can't wait to see the pics!
sandandsea I love the nursery! I especially love that you found a rug that coordinates with both color and theme!
Thanks! The rug was super cheap ($150 for a 5x7) and is actually pretty poor quality but I love the look and got it anyway. Rugsusa.com was the website. They have a ton of options.
sandandsea - do you like that crib?? Where did you get it? I've been eyeing that style with drawers along the side.
Yes we like it a lot. We used it with DS and the drawers are really handy and we liked not having extra furniture in his room. It also was nice as a toddler bed because his nightlight and water and books etc could sit on it instead of the floor. It's the da Vinci kalani but I think it's been discontinued since 2011 when we got it.

Thanks so much! I've seen them several places on line, but was hoping I could hear about one from a real person. Alas, yours is discontinued, but I'm glad to hear that you liked it!
