I was talking to the babysitter today about first haircuts. We've trimmed A's hair at home, just around his ears and neckline. I don't know if that counts as his first "official" haircut or not. But there's another kid at daycare about a month younger than A and he's never had a trim. His hair is so long it hangs down in his face and gets all crusty from the perpetually snotty nose that most toddlers seem to have. Today she clipped his hair back in a bow because it was grossing her out so much.
So when/ where was your LO's first haircut? How long would/ did you let their hair go before cutting it? Would you have been super mad if daycare provider trimmed it before the first "official" cut?

So when/ where was your LO's first haircut? N/A How long would/ did you let their hair go before cutting it? if it wasn't curly in the back it would be cut already. The curls hide the mullet and she's a girl so it's not been necessary. I had an ongoing debate with DH about cutting DD1's mullet (he thought it was cute "long" but it was a terrible mullet) until I finally got grossed out and trimmed it when the back hit close to her shoulders. Would you have been super mad if daycare provider trimmed it before the first "official" cut? no, but based on DH's reaction to my unofficial trim of DD1's hair he would have.

DS had his first official haircut at 10 months, I had trimmed it before then but it was pretty long. He has a lot of hair and it goes quickly so he goes every month to get it cut.
I would be pretty angry if my daycare provider took it upon herself to cut my child's hair though.
No haircuts yet. I'm trying to let it grow out and then I'll even it a bit. I'd be pretty angry if my daycare provider (or literally anyone other than DW or myself) decided to cut her hair.
DS had a bang trim first, and then a good trim a few weeks later. I think it was sometime before Christmas.
I would be mad if a DCP had done the first cut without my knowledge. One of my customers did do his bangs first for me, but I knew she was going to, and she saved me a piece for his baby book. Then, a couple months ago, she trimmed them again while babysitting him and they looked SO DORKY. I was not too pleased about that and had to cut a lot off to fix up the style. I am letting his grow to a kind of a shag. I will add a couple pics of what I am going for. DS's isn't quite long enough yet.
I don't remember when I cut Max's hair for the first time. But it's NBD to me because it bugs me when it's out of control and I'm still technically a licensed cosmetologist, so it's like professional is doing it every time I cut J's hair when he was 10 weeks old because he had so much and it looked like a helmet. Max was probably younger than one, but he doesn't have as much hair. However, I would be livid if a daycare provider cut a single hair on my child's head unless it was an emergency. Even if the hair is getting snot in it, I'm the parent, not the daycare provider. It's my choice to cut it as I see fit.
I guess I should add she wouldn't ever actually cut his hair. She was just getting frustrated with the grossness of it and was venting to me (we're family so it's not like she's some DC provider I don't know outside of that). I think it's nasty too to have your kids hair crusted with snot and drool all the time.

Her first birthday for bangs and then last month again. Her hair is wild! I can put it in a full on pony tail. If someone touched one hair on her head without my consent, I would be livid.
Ha...DS has only just gotten hair in the last couple months. Nowhere close to ready for a haircut. Someone cutting his hair w/out our permission...hell no
So when/ where was your LO's first haircut? first official haircut was in January, just a trim. Then a few weeks ago we went really short. I cried.
How long would/ did you let their hair go before cutting it? I want it to grow out again. I love DS with longer hair.
Would you have been super mad if daycare provider trimmed it before the first "official" cut? I would be FURIOUS if anyone but myself initiated a haircut. first or tenth. H knows better than to mess with DS's hair without my knowledge.
I cut it myself in September because it was in her eyes all the time. Then cut it again Christmas eve. It looked terrible so now we're planning to take her to a salon.
I'd be pissed if someone cut her hair without my permission.
DD's first bang trim was about a week ago, and only because they were in her eyes. Shockingley, I did not mess it up. We will just keep the bangs out of her eyes, she has a long way to go before needing a haircut.
I would be livid if someone cut her hair without permission.
So when/ where was your LO's first haircut? He hasn't had one yet. Kid is just starting to get some thickness to his hair. It's still very fine and even growth for the most part. He's got a wee curly baby mullet starting. How long would/ did you let their hair go before cutting it? Um I hope to not cut off his curls but would never let it get to metal headbanger long hair. We would trim if it got much past his shoulders. Would you have been super mad if daycare provider trimmed it before the first "official" cut? YES. It is NOT their place to make that decision. Rubber band it or just deal.

DS has not had a hair cut yet and probably won't anytime soon. It's finally growing in enough to match a shorter version of the first pic briarrose posted. He still has a bit of a mullet, but I'll just wait for the rest to grow/gain some thickness and then have my hair girl clean it up into a longer style. I prefer toddler boys with longer hair. Just my personal preference!
So when/ where was your LO's first haircut? January How long would/ did you let their hair go before cutting it? He had what my mom referred to as his Jewish curl (similar to pic below) that had gotten pretty out of control
Would you have been super mad if daycare provider trimmed it before the first "official" cut? I would be LIVID if someone other than myself or H made that decision. It is not DCP place to decide when your child gets a trim. I used to get angry at H when he threatened to trim DS's curls before I was ready too.
ETA: Picture is of course an exaggerated curl length...
No hair cuts or trims yet. She's got a curly rat tail thing going on. I don't care for bangs on little girls so growing those out as well. She doesn't really get gross stuff in her hair so not an issue for us.
I was scared of MIL watching her and cutting her bangs without me knowing. Thankfully she brought it up first so I got to say they are growing out.
So when/ where was your LO's first haircut? No official cut yet but he had a trim to the bits behind his ears to even the back out. OH and I are debating when to cut it. I LOVE his hair but at the same time I want a nice little British school boy cut. AND I'm too lazy to take him to a hairdressers. How long would/ did you let their hair go before cutting it? I like long hair on little boys. Would you have been super mad if daycare provider trimmed it before the first "official" cut? Hell yeah!
We waited until DS turned 1 to cut his hair and it was well past his nose by then. It's a Filipino custom, at least according to MIL. It got gross a lot but we often put the front in a clip or rubber band to keep it out of his eyes. He needs another hair cut soon but he fights like a banshee so we've been putting it off. I would be very upset if anyone else decided to cut his hair.

Until I drive to your house and cut it in his sleep.

I think the worst stage is behind us. You survived!
DS hasn't had his hair cut yet. He has tight coils that look so cute with a little product. I like to corn row it sometimes, so it's better if it stays a little on the longer side. However, we may trim it shortly so it's all even.
If someone cut my baby's hair w/o permission, they'd have Hell to pay.

Your kid sits long enough for corn rows?! I'm lucky to slap a pony tail or pig tails or clips in it and call it a day.
