I think all the infant sleep stuff especially online is a bunch of garbage(sleep associations, regressions, baby schedules, etc) I wasted a lot of time on it. I think most babies would sleep the same way no matter what you do.
I so agree. I nursed to sleep, co-slept, had multiple wake ups at night and both girls put themselves to sleep and STTN. They are able to stay up late one night and go back to normal bedtime the next night. I read no books and did no sleep training.
I agree as well. Some babies sleep well, some do not.
I read a book but it basically said, "Do what works for your family." So I did. We nursed to sleep for a long time, we were not on a schedule until he went to daycare, I let him sleep when he wanted, we rolled with the wakes MOTN. He STTN and puts himself to sleep, sometimes asking to get in bed. I don't think it was anything we did. We did minimal CIO but he was already a decent sleeper by then.
I'm sure this will jinx us for kid #2.
Pink is definitely in the minority with her hate of beach vacations. Love beach resort vacations with hiking excursions. Nothing better.
sosayweall ,greysonsmom , I don't like the brick and mortar stores... but online I've gotten some great baby gear at a huge discount. Our Diono car seat and Bob stroller we got for great deals because Kohls will often stack coupon codes.
I can understand the beach hate. I do not hate the beach, I can definitely enjoy it, but it can be quite stressful too. I hate getting sand in everything. Eating lunch or a snack at the beach, there is always sand in the food at some point. East coast beaches can get hot, and in a bathing suit there is no protection against thigh rub. The drive home from the beach is the worst, even if there is a shower at the beach I feel gross, and sticky, and again, sand everywhere. The walk to and from the beach while trying to carry everything is uncomfortable.
However, I do very much so enjoy the times at the beach in between those stressful (for me) times
I agree with Courtniko about the beach stress (says the girl who just asked for help booking a beach vacation). I think if the place you're staying is within walking distance it makes a huge difference. DNW to pack up the car, shower before getting back in, not track sand in, worry if I'm forgetting everything at home, not have the option to easily go in if I'm over it.
Hiking.. No. That's not a vacation, that's a gym class. Lol
I don't think Ikea is that great. I especially don't get why people around me take weekend trips to cities 3-4 hours away for the sole purpose of shopping there.
don't let them fool you, they go for the meatballs
OMG yes. I hate that place. TJ Maxx too. Those two places are BIL's favorite, and DH and I are like "Why???"
I am a thrift store junkie. Last week we picked up a pair of super sexy Express dress pants for DH for like $6 at Goodwill. I cant wait for him to wear them.

I don't get why people jump ship on their BMB if LO happens to be born in a different month. What, you're gonna hang with us for 7-8 months then just dump us?? I would have been sad to lose the A14 moms whose babies happened to not be born in A14!

I think that what you do has some effect, more so with some babies than others. I do think a lot of the info online has the attitude of "If you do/don't do XYZ, you're responsible for screwing up your kid's sleep" and I completely disagree with that premise. Sure, there are some things that are better or worse but the exact things you mentioned probably don't matter, imo. We did have to push J a little bit and let her cry in her crib, but that only worked when she was ready for it. You do what works for you and your kid and most of it will work itself out, I think.

I stayed with you all even though I ended up with a September baby
Sleepers with snaps are annoying AF. I dont even know why they exist. Zippered sleepers are so much better.
I know a few people who have accidentally caught their LOs skin in the zipper MOTN, so they prefer snaps. I was always missing a button and having to start over, so I preferred zippers.

I think this is true up until a certain age, but after a certain age (and it does vary by kid what age that is), what you do does make a difference.
Weissbluth said it's 60% parental factors, 40% kid factors. In my experience that's about right. I did roughly the same stuff for each kid and by 1 year of age they were both generally STTN but the worse sleeper would wake up easier and had lower sleep needs.
ETA: but that genetics study? That is why we are screwed for DD3's sleep. My nieces and nephews were pretty much all bad sleepers. My brother and I were bad sleepers. DH and his siblings were bad sleepers. At least in the first six months there is nothing I will be able to do to overcome genetics. WHY didn't anyone tell me to make sure the father of my children was a rockstar sleeper?

This was me! Also DS was ridiculously inflexible as a newborn and it was nearly impossible to bend him the right way to stuff his other foot in those zipper sleepers. #snapsforlife
