Auto-deleting short term photo hosting (IMPORTANT POLL)

In looking at how we can improve the user experience, we were considering re-enabling the "upload to forum" photo posting option. The issue is that proboards gives us a relatively small amount of space, and we used it up in two weeks when we first launched the forum.

We were thinking that this might be a great way for us to allow users to host short-term photos- photos that they would likely decide to dirty delete.

What would happen is that we would clear images out on the 1st and 15th every month. Any photos uploaded during that time period would be automatically deleted on those dates. So if you wanted a pic to be up forever, not the best choice. But it would allow us to offer easier photo hosting for pics people would like posted in the short term.


To do this, we would have to delete all photos that were uploaded using the site uploader from January 15-Feb 3, 2015 when we first launched the site.

You'll have to switch to the desktop view, but I believe the answer is yes.

The good news is that when v6 rolls out, it will be built right in to the mobile experience.

If photos were easier to post, surely people would post photos more often and the space would get used up quicker than two weeks?

Yeah. We are likely going to have to re-evaluate after the v6 launch when it will become super easy to upload photos.

Is it possible to make it so that photos uploaded to the forum get automatically sized down (if above some set size threshold) in the process? Would stretch our storage farther and also make pics load faster. Or does that already happen? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

The options for that are kind of limited right now, but I believe that feature is on the docket for v6
