If you're in the FB group, you know I was worried about DS's current car seat straps digging into his neck. It's an Evenflo platinum symphony LX. I love it in every other way besides that.
Well lo and behold DS threw up all over the seat today AGAIN. The kid has thrown up 4 times in his life and 2 of those he's been in his car seat. It's always right after we take off, so it's not like he's getting car sick or something, just bad luck I guess.
We had bought the protection and they'll just give us a check for the cost of the seat. Without washing the straps, this is never coming clean. It's all in the buckles and stuff. Hork.
Thanks for letting me AW. Today sucked. We were 30 minutes from home. The last 2 times he's thrown up, his breathing issues have flared up following it. That's why the doctor wanted to do this bronchoscopy to see if there's an extra connection causing him to aspirate. And I just canceled it because I'm concerned about the effects of all this anesthesia and now I'm kind of kicking myself. We'll see what happens. Sooooo anyways.... recommend your seat!
Oh yeah, and since we are out of a seat, I won't actually be able to bring him to the store with me to have him test out the new one. I'll put out there that I had to take our Britex back because the straps hugged DS's thighs versus his hips. So that brand is out.
We have the Graco 4-ever (or maybe it's called all in one? I can't remember!) We'll never have to buy her another seat because it breaks down it multiple seats and is good for 10years. It is pricey, probably $300 but I was able to get it knocked down like $80 with promo codes from kohl's. I believe rear facing until 40lbs, as well. I'm planning on buying another one if they still make them once #2 is out of infant seat.

We had a maxi cosi pria and DS HATED it. I thought he just hated the car. Poor kid. About a month ago we got a diono radian in preparation for the new baby and he LOVES this seat. Doesn't scream bloody murder the whole time anymore. Now he is quiet and content and often falls asleep in the car, that never used to happen.
We have the same safety 1st seat @yodasmom mentioned. I absolutely love how it fits in my car. And it's easy to take in/ out if we ever need to put him in someone else's car. But same with the height concerns. Our other seat is a hand me down from BIL's kids and I have no idea what it is lol. I just know it isn't expired and it fits well in H's car.

Just wanted to say, sorry about the car seat puke....definitely not fun! We have a Britax, so I'm no help. However, whenever I see the commercials for that Graci 4 in 1 I think "We should have gotten that seat!"
Graco4ever here. We really like it a lot, and it will last her 10 years.
I think you joined Car Seats for the Littles? If so they have a guide for picking a seat. We pretty quickly narrowed it down to the 4ever or the NextFit. We actually bought one of each, but the NextFit was too hard to get DD in and out of, it ended up having a defect so we happily returned it for another 4ever.
ETA, sorry you are dealing with this, and I hope he does not have a bad reaction later
Thank you guys! Ok I'm looking at the Graco 4evers now. It had amazing reviews but I saw one that mentioned the decorative piping runs right down the center of the arm rest. So like the kid's elbow had to rest on it. The pictures look like she's right. That sounds uncomfortable. Did anyone here notice that or think it will be an issue as the LOs get a little older?

Yep, I got on their site. It mentioned the Graco 4ever was sort of similar to the click connect which we had for an infant seat and loved. I'm going for it!
Idk if you have BUY BUY Baby near you but we got a good deal on ours using the 20% off.
Ah, yes. I said kohl's in my post. I actually got it from bed bath and beyond. Idk where I pulled kohl's from. Thanks for unintentionally reminding me and making me correct myself lol.
Welllll we got the Graco 4ever and love it! We're on our way to Nashville for DS's doctor appointment annnnd he just threw up at a rest stop. He had diarrhea yesterday morning but I thought he was on the upswing. I guess not. We're still 1.5 hours from the hotel. FML.

This is the post I made on Britax's facebook page after the accident and damn if it didn't bring tears to my eyes, 3 years later:

I wanted to come by to say thanks. Yesterday, my father and my 20 month old daughter were driving home from a trip to my grandmother's while my husband and I were at work. My daughter was snuggled in tight in her Britax Advocate.
Unfortunately, due to an aggressive driver, my father and daughter were in a horrible car crash that included a rolling car and a collision with a tree. Both my dad and my daughter should've been severely hurt. The car was demolished. My dad had some damage, but my daughter was safe and sound with just a few little bumps and bruises to show for it.
The ER nurse I spoke with after getting to the hospital ascertained that the car seat saved my daughter's life. There is no way that saying thanks for making a product that saved my daughter's life is enough, but it is all that I got. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We went out today and purchased a new Advocate. There is no way we will drive in a car that doesn't have that car seat. While it was incredibly hard driving her home today, I felt better knowing that she was snuggled into a brand new Advocate, the car seat that saved her life.

Oh my gosh, this is terrifying. I'm so glad everyone was ok AND that her grandparents took the time to learn how to properly latch her in. I'm so paranoid about anyone putting DS in his seat besides me. Thanks for sharing!
lucilleaustero that is an amazing story! I'm so glad that you're dad and daughter were safe. Unfortunately though stories like this are what lead to many low income families feeling like crap if they can't afford a $300 car seat. Any car seat is a life saving device if used properly. Installed properly, strapped in properly, and used within its limits, and $50 car seat can be just as safe as the Advocate. So while I'm glad that seat did exactly what it was supposed to, it's not the end all be all to car seats. I'm sure this sounds snarky, but I don't want anyone to think their kid isn't safe if they have a less expensive car seat.
